Our statement on the inclusion on the @globalextremism report: (1/18)
Of course, @globalextremism has misrepresented us, and probably intentionally. LGB Alliance Australia, and every other LGB Alliance group around the world, formed to represent the interests of lesbians, gay men, and bisexuals. That’s all. (2/18)
That’s not hateful, or extreme, and it’s certainly not “far right”. It isn’t hate speech to want to have a conversation about sex-based rights. (3/18)
Unfortunately, there are a lot of gender ideologues who want to shut down the conversation by name-calling: LGB Alliance Australia isn’t going to play that game. (4/18)
So, are we a far-right/extremist/hate group? These terms are used as lazy insults to silence same-sex attracted people who are resolute in their boundaries. We absolutely reject any attempt to redefine homosexuality. (5/18)
We are a non-partisan, non-political advocacy group. We are not far-right extremists. In fact, most of us come from the left of the political spectrum. We are a group deeply concerned with human rights, particularly as it pertains to LGB people. (6/18)
Our response to these poorly researched allegations: (7/18)
We completely reject the reframing of an incident where a British MP was allegedly harassed as being organised by LGB Alliance UK. This is an intentional misrepresentation of events that has already been rehashed by @globalextremism with their attack on LGB Alliance Ireland. (8/)
We absolutely do not support the forced teaming of LGB people into an undefined “+” umbrella as it attracts and allows any group or cause to attach itself. (9/18)
This has recently been seen in the UK in a supposed children’s charity where a paedophile sympathiser was exposed as a hidden trustee in a shocking lack of governance. (10/18)
The same charity is currently under investigation for supplying chest-binding devices to minors and described as a “form of child abuse” by the Metropolitan Police. The British MP involved in the alleged harassment is a also a strong supporter of the charity. (11/18)
As sexual minorities, we support the right for single-sex events organised for lesbian and bi women, as well as for gay and bi men. (12/18)
Such spaces foster community, present a reprieve from a heteronormative society, and provide a space free from unwanted advances by the opposite sex, which is particularly important for lesbians and gay men. (13/18)
Of course lesbians are insulted and appalled when a male speaks on our behalf as a "lesbian" representative on our national broadcaster, describing "lesbian" sex with a penis. This is contrary to the very definition of lesbian: a same-sex attracted female. (14/18)
We call upon @globalextremism to raise their research standards and stop representing opinion as fact. The continued harassment of LGB groups around the world under the guise of combating extremism shines a light on their ideological beliefs. (15/18)
This thinly veiled homophobia alleges we are aligned with extremists and puts the safety of LGB people at risk. (16/18)
We would encourage others to look us up and decide for themselves. (17/18)
We feel the sincerity of our concerns, as well as our commitment to respectful and calm discussion, speaks for itself: lgballiance.org. (18/18)
We have been amazed at the bravery of Australian detransitioners this week in sharing their stories and seeking to protect others from similar medical harms. We hope such stories will encourage conversations around how gender ideology uniquely impacts LGB youth.

Detrans lesbian Jay Langadinos is suing her former psychiatrist for professional negligence after hormone & surgical treatments for dysphoria. Other factors weren't considered. She "has suffered and continues to suffer from injuries and disabilities”. 2/7
Ollie Davies, a bisexual man, 'had never questioned his gender identity' but when 'friends repeatedly suggested to him that he was trans, he began to believe it was true'. Mental health also not addressed. He is now infertile from hormone treatments. 3/7
We unequivocally support trans & gender diverse peoples’ right to hold trans-only events at the exclusion of all others. However, we note it has been deemed discriminatory in Australia for LGB people to hold same-sex only events; events exclusively for lesbians or gay men.
1/7
We find this unfair and hypocritical.
This was highlighted recently in Tasmania where a lesbian had an application for a lesbian-only event rejected by the anti-discrimination commissioner. The outcome of this decision is homophobic and discrimination against LGB people.

In 2021, the historical McIver Women's Baths came under controversy as a (then) single-sex space for female swimmers. Single-sex spaces are invaluable in increasing female safety & comfort in vulnerable spaces. Most Australians think they are / should be protected by law.

We welcome Derryn Hinch of the Justice Party's support of fair and safe sports for women.
The conflation of same-sex attraction (LGB) into an acronym with gender ideology (T) leads to justifications before what we consider common-sense opinions; 1/7
a trans-identified male competing in women's sports against natal females has nothing to do with supporting LGB rights, as lesbian and bisexual women are also negatively impacted by policies that include males in women's sports. 2/7
We know many trans people agree males do not belong in female sporting categories due to unfair biological advantages. We support fair and equitable solutions for trans inclusion in sports that do not harm or disadvantage biological women, such as the creation of a third... 3/7
🧵We don’t endorse a queer theory reframing of #bisexuality as being “an attraction to two or more genders”; this definition in too ambiguous as to be meaningless. People aren’t attracted to a subjective concept like gender, they are attracted to others based on their sex.1/4
Only recently the identity of bisexuality was considered transphobic by some, leading to the microlabel pansexual. Innate sexuality is not bigotry. There are many bisexuals who feel unrepresented by organisations that define their sexuality as based on gender as opposed to sex./2
Many bisexuals feel there is pressure on them to accept trans partners regardless of their personal attraction, as bisexuals are stereotyped as “up for anything.” That is not a situation that is conducive to meaningful consent and can lead to great harm./3
We are LGB Alliance Australia and with great pride we stand shoulder to shoulder with many others asserting our rights as people with same-sex sexual orientation. We will align ourselves with the same aims and code of conduct as the LGB Alliance organisations elsewhere./1
Among us are mental health professionals, journalists, those who work with disadvantaged youth and in disability./2
We believe queer theory and identity politics are regressive in their approach to sexual orientation. Current gender identity theory, which redefines sexual orientation as based on gender and not sex, presents a fundamental threat to the hard-fought rights we have secured./3
