F.C. Yee, author of the #ChroniclesoftheAvatar series, pops in via video to say hi. He discusses the difference between Kyoshi & Yangchen. The former is a little more headstrong and loud, the latter is more clever and calculated. He says Avatar backgrounds are important. #NYCC

If you haven’t read F.C Yee’s books, I highly recommend! Some of my favorite Avatar storytelling. #NYCC

The core book for #AvatarLegends, the role playing game, is 304 pages of goodness. Players will be able to play across all eras, from the time of Avatar Roku to the the era after #TheLegendofKorra. The book arrives on January 25th, 2023. #NYCC

You will be able to play as both benders and non-benders. Lots of opportunity to explore the Avatar universe. #NYCC #AvatarLegends

#AvatarLegends will allow players the chance to decide how they want to live in the world of Avatar. Decision making will be important. There’s a hope that you will be able to relate to new characters and legacy characters alike. #NYCC

The Avatar universe is massive with endless possibilities. The goal of #AvatarLegends was to create a space to explore as many as possible. #NYCC

Creation in the Avatar universe is very collaborative. The development of Avatar Studios has been incredibly helpful in all the project teams working together. Teamwork makes the dream work! #NYCC #AvatarTheLastAirbender

A round of applause for all the devoted fans in the audience. Most of the creatives are fans as well, and some even grew up with the original cartoon. We all just love #AvatarTheLastAirbender! #NYCC

The Legend of Korra: Patterns in Time is an anthology of stories coming November 29th, 2022. It will feature the characters of the title show, and is the work of multiple different writers. #NYCC #AvatarTheLastAirbender

The Kyoshi novels were stopped after only two books because F.C. Yee felt they had reached a natural endpoint. However, they wanted to make more books, so Yee pitched an anthological story about Yangchen.

Hence, the birth of #ChroniclesoftheAvatar and #TheDawnofYangchen!

One of the Patterns in Time stories will be centered on Yasuko Sato, the mother of Asami Sato from #TheLegendofKorra! Seems like the book will be a great way to learn about characters we had only previously heard mentioned. #NYCC

Another story will focus on “Uncle Boomy”! Along with some new sketches for the art currently in the works! #NYCC #AvatarTheLastAirbender

A Republic City supplement for #AvatarLegends is coming in 2023! Will feature the most modern version of the city, post-Legend of Korra. #NYCC

The next graphic novel will be ‘Azula in the Spirit Temple’. Focuses on Azula confronting her past. Showing us the first ever sketches for the story!

“Will this be Azula’s redemption? We’ll find out.”

There is another trilogy of Korra comics on the way. The first story will be focused on Mako! That’s all they can say for now. #NYCC #TheLegendofKorra

A fan asks about potential stories for the Earth Avatar after Korra or ‘What If…?’ style tales like Marvel. The publishers say all that goes through Mike and Bryan, but there are a lot of cool ideas on the horizon that can’t yet be announced. 👀

Comics and novels will be the main source of universe expansion for now. Publishers can’t speak to what they’re working on at Avatar Studios in terms of shows and movies. Personally, fine by me. #NYCC #AvatarTheLastAirbender

Creation of Avatar Studios did not impact previously established canon. At least not at the moment. The Kyoshi books are still safe.

The Uncle Bumi story will expand on his relationship with Meelo. There will be an action sequence with pirates, where Bumi and Meelo work together. Bumi described as “doing his best”.

Some of the writers have submitted “super dark” stories to Dark Horse that were rejected. #NYCC #AvatarTheLastAirbender
