2/We know that people have social networks that are disproportionately of their own race. Could one reason be differences in interests? Wanted to collect data on demographics of hobbies since this is a less talked about aspect of racial differences
4/ Skiing: "According to data from the National Ski Areas Association, 88.2% of visitors to ski areas during the 2019-20 season were white, while just 1.8% were Black." steamboatpilot.com/news/indivisib…

37/ Tangentially related whites are also more likely to donate blood and organs:
Overall whites seem more interested in adventure and nature which makes sense given tweet below. As expected whites and Asians are overrepresented in intellectual pursuits. Blacks are overrepresented as protestors and TV viewers, and social media users.
Note: This data comes from various different years. I also can't guarantee all of the surveys are perfectly representative, but tried to find the best I could.
I looked for info on these hobbies but couldn't find any. If you have data on these, or any other hobbies, please share!
82 percent of overall artists booked for mainstream dance music festivals in 2019 were male. 76 percent were white, while 14 percent were Black and 18 percent were female. Half a percent were trans, while 10 percent were neither black nor white (other)." beatportal.com/beatport-news/…

Guessing hobby flying matches these demographics: "In the United States 93.7% of professional pilots are White and 92.5% of professional pilots are male, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics." cnn.com/travel/article…
For those of you who say that all this is because of income, I wouldn't necessarily agree... blacks are more likely to buy luxury items (cars, jewelry, electronics) despite being poorer, and making less...web.archive.org/web/2018071906…

1/ Short thread. Meadow Pollack was an 18 year old student at Parkland High School with dreams of becoming an attorney. She was fatally shot as she draped her body over a younger student attempting to protect her.
2/ In the aftermath of the shooting, her father tried to figure out what policies lead to her death and teamed up with a researcher to write this book. amazon.com/Why-Meadow-Die…
3/ Here are some excerpts from this book. The book goes through all of the ways in which in which the shooting could have been prevented. If the shooter had a criminal record of one of the serious crimes that he committed he would not have been able to legally purchase a firearm.
