There was a solo paramedic in Granby and a solo paramedic in Bedford this morning. That means there was an ambulance out of service in each of those response zones.
Of course, even when Granby is fully staffed with paramedics, the ambulance coverage is often stretched if not completely inadequate.
However, given that ambulance coverage is often a mystery few of us fully understand, the solo paramedic in Granby was sent to Bedford so both of their ambulances could be in service.
The disconnect between the various elements of the healthcare system continues to blow me away. Very early this morning - at 30 minutes after midnight, an ambulance was called to bring a patient home from the hospital in Matane.
The paramedics who brought the patient home were working a 7/14 shift* and because that call maxxed out their hours without a break, a CNESST-forced pause began at 01H this morning and didn't come to an end until 09H this morning.
That left the entire Matane response zone with only one team of paramedics from 01H until 07H15 this morning.
