.@maggieNYT new front page article with inside information on why Trump stole & refuses to return state secrets directly contradicts her earlier reporting. Trump is feeding her stream of lies (supplemented by her inside intuition) that she feeds US as exclusives #AccessJournalism
Here is @maggieNYT previous front-page article nytimes.com/2022/08/18/us/… where she tells US that Trump stole the state secrets because he likes to collect things (definitely not the obvious reasons of blackmail or sale, because she knows his mind) which this reporting contradicts.
In their unified defense of access journalism, our Media Elite focus on the withholding of information for books (which is not good), but they pass over the bigger problems: intentionally lying to US as favor to Political Elite AND distracting US with palace intrigue v. substance
We are less informed because access journalists exist.

(1) Putin will not stop with whatever he gets next: he wants all of Ukraine, and then if he gets that he would want all of Poland. Appeasing him will gain us nothing, while making his appetite for power, suffering, death larger and more viable.
Only path to towards peace is to vigorously defend every inch of land Putin tries to conquer outside his own country: that weakens his ambition, weakens his military: it contains the madman inside his own borders.
(2) Putin knows using a nuke, no matter size or target, is equivalent to signing his own death warrant. The world cannot let him maintain control of a nuclear arsenal if he is prepared to use to offensively. He always has path to maintain his money & power if he does not nuke.

A famous & influential person goes onto @Twitter and declares he is going to cause bad things to happen to the Jews, because he believes they are cancelling him. Most public reactions to fall 3 buckets:
(1) Famous & influential person has right to say whatever he wants, in whatever public forums he wants (up until point he makes specific threats of harm) but @Twitter is a private forum, where they curate away the most egregious hate, as to keep the platform palatable to most ...
This is the position I agree with: if @Twitter does not moderate the most obvious & odious hate speech, then the only thing left will be obvious & odious hate speech, because every decent person would leave. And, that would be bad for dialogue and unprofitable for Twitter ...

Basically the goldilocks of job reports: robust growth shows no recession, but slowing down enough to ease inflation concern.
Not wanting to disrupt their anti-Biden narrative, @nytimes somehow makes great job report seem ominous. You can almost taste their disappointment at the healthy jobs report. Image
US now gained 10 million jobs under @JoeBiden, in a solid, sustainable way. Wages continue to grow a higher level in decades, but again in a solid and sustainable way. ImageImage

Every once in a while I think about fact that Republican Party is completely organized around their feelings not caring about facts.
Sure their economic policy does not work in theory or practice, but they have a strong feeling that cutting taxes for rich works to solve all of our problems!
All day long Republican trolls are coming to me talking about crying & meltdowns sorry, but sometimes I just want to talk about policy, not your feelings!

Most likely scenario is that Marc Short told @maggieNYT the truth, Trump ordered Pence to spend our money on him, and she *choose* to lie about it on the front-page of the @nytimes, and save the truth for her book (presumably to keep everyone happy) ...
(1) There is laundry list of powerful Media & Intellectual Elites derisively mocking everyone who questions whether this is OK: I think lying to the US on the front-page of @nytimes is bad, even if the lie would not changed much in real-time. But, Elites think this is just fine.
This is part of a larger pattern of access journalists lying to US in real-time as favor to sources. It is not about the impact of any particular lie but undermining truth in mainstream media and obviously providing a lot of normalization & cover-up for sources that adds up.

Elites rallying around "access journalism" because it is great for both political & media elite: media elite get power & money with their access to political elite, and political elite get appearance of accounability through their controlled leaks but no actually accounability.
.@maggieNYT reported in @nytimes, when it happened when he could have been held accountable for stealing our money, that Trump suggested Pence spend million of dollars at his hotel, explicitly not ordered.
Now, three years later, @maggieNYT is contradicting her real-time reporting in @nytimes in her book, asserting that Trump did order Pence to spend money at his hotel.
