Paypal has been leading this truly dangerous effort to banish people from the financial system for expressing dissent from neoliberal orthodoxies. They partnered with @ADL - a standard DNC/liberal group - to identify "extremists" who deserve to be banned.

I believe Paypal's claim that it was an "error" to publish a policy saying they'd steal $2,500 from anyone whose opinions it disliked -- only because they weren't ready to publish it yet and weren't ready for the backlash that harmed their stock price:

It continues to be the height of dark irony that the very same people who can't stop glorifying themselves as the courageous vanguards against "fascism" are those cheering this union of state and corporate power to punish dissent. That's what Big Tech censorship is, too.
On Paypal's leading censorship role, this is key history many have forgotten.

In 2010, Joe Lieberman pressured banks and financial services companies to cut off WikiLeaks after it published docs on US war crimes. They all complied, starting with Paypal:

People surprised by this tweet are revealing their ignorance.

While the conspiratorial media kept claiming Trump was controlled by Putin, the Trump Admin was aggressively confronting Russia: arming Ukraine and sabotaging Nord Stream 2.

Most of the GOP agrees with Pompeo here:
The vast majority of the GOP in the House and Senate voted YES on Biden's $40b war package for Ukraine (Dems were unanimous in support).

The GOP spent years attacking Obama for being soft on Putin due to his refusal to arm Ukraine or overthrow Assad:

Despite Trump's rhetoric, many neocons and militarists like Pompeo used flattery of Trump to entrench themselves in high positions in the Exec Branch.

Of course Pompeo supports the Dem proxy war in Ukraine: he's a life-long neocon and war hawk against Russia. Makes total sense.

Rick Wilson defrauded gullible progressives out of $65,000 for a blockbuster anti-Trump film he kept promising to extract more money and, of course, it never came.

@gofundme chose to do nothing about this blatant fraud even though it's been reported and denounced many times.
The issue isn't Rick Wilson or Lincoln Project. People who don't know by now they're the worst scumbags and lowest con artists deserve to have their money taken.

The issue is @gofundme & @MSNBC chose to do nothing because the thief has liberal politics.

The only reason @SteveSchmidtSES is now doing a gigantic thread on what frauds, liars and thieves run @ProjectLincoln is the Showtime documentary left no doubt about it. It's all been long been known. Liberals chose to ignore it because it's who they are.

I don't mean by random Twitter trolls. The NBC/CNN/DNC crowd does it routinely, along with their CIA and FBI colleagues. No evidence needed.
People like @AVindman are absolute scumbags. They should be sued. Hillary Clinton, who never served anyone but herself, did it to @TulsiGabbard.

And, of course, these career liars are the ones who want to censor the internet to stop "disinformation": as they smear reflexively.

The view Chomsky is expressing here is the standard one for the international left (and the populist right) in most of the world.

But in the US, you'll almost never hear any left-liberal of prominence say this because the US really doesn't have "a left": it just has Democrats.
That was the point of this thread. Dissent on the US role in Ukraine comes only from right-wing media and the populist parts of the GOP caucus (with the exception of a few left-wing writers), because there is no "US left" separate from the Dem Party:

By all accounts - including Joe Biden's - the world is closer to nuclear war than at any time since the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Yet judging by current US discourse, this emergence of this severe danger is either exciting or trivial – anything but deeply alarming.
Worse – far worse – not one Democratic Party official in DC is willing to utter anything close to the very sensible remarks from Trump here.

That's because - insanely - calls for diplomacy are cast as weakness, "appeasement," or pro-Kremlin treason.

It is only in the US and in a few of its most repressive NATO allies where debate is this narrow and closed.

The mainstream US "left" is now claiming such great affinity for Lula. Yet look at what Lula - from the start - has been saying about the US role in the war in Ukraine.

Noam Chomsky spoke to BBC and strongly criticized Lula's party, PT, for relying too much on celebrities and academics and not enough on popular movements, noting Bolsonaro has large public rallies. He also compared PT to the US Dem Party's neoliberalism:

Chomsky's criticisms do not mean he supports Bolsonaro (obviously). He's a long-time Lula supporter.
