I know I'm late and just catching up, but Daredevil on #SheHulkAttorneyAtLaw is the Waid/Samnee Daredevil. People don't get that? There are a hundred runs, a hundred interpretations. Not all of them are the Miller King of Pain version.
I think that's going to continue to be a point of conflict, in comics culture, or even in adaptation -- big IP adaptations require canon, while as Keith Giffen once said to me "consistency, not canon" is best in comics.
You can line up a dozen great Batman moments, and one of my favorites is this one. Because it's a Flash moment that tells you everything you need to know about Batman, how he interacts with the the others, etc. And it's certainly not grimmmmm.
I mean, I may be biased towards having a ... lighter tone in comics. Or at least being able to change it up.

This is a very LA tweet, but one can't help but look at the UK right now and think of the couple you know where the showrunner husband bailed for the hot actress on his show and now his ex-wife is doing just fine and he's sitting in the dark in a single at the Oakwood.
I known the Oakwood's not the Oakwood anymore, which is sad, because the Oakwood was a super valuable metaphor/shorthand in LA life.
There's a great documentary called THE HOLLYWOOD COMPLEX about the Oakwood Apartments currently running on @AmazonFreevee BTW. It's mostly about the child actors who come out every year. @RadioFreeTom you should watch it given our shared loathing of fame.

Just saw a reply to a Hurricane Ian flooding footage tweet "Don't worry, Floridians are tough people" and jesus christ on a stick this American obsession with manliness, toughness, suffering as virtue is going to be what destroys this country.
You're not tougher than the fucking ocean. You're not tougher than COVID. You're not tougher than PTSD, from whatever source. You're not tougher than whatever unspeakable bullshit may rain down on us over the next ten years.
Take advantage of all the benefits science and civilization have brought us, enough people died to make them possible.

Actual call:
HIM: But what'll it do to my career if everybody thinks I'm a sellout or I screw this up?
ME: ... motherfucker, I wrote CATWOMAN.
HIM: *30 straight seconds of laughter*
ME: How badly do you think you can fuck up *worse than me* and not work in Hollywood anymore?
It's always good to remember you are not the main character in anybody else's narrative.
It can't chase me if I pick it up and use it.

This is one of the reasons I'm past the "it's not fascism unless it includes syndicalists, otherwise it's just sparkling authoritarianism" phase. Words don't have meaning they have practical use.
I consider myself an American Pragmatist, so to quote Pierce: "Consider what effects, that might conceivably have practical bearings, we conceive the object of our conception to have. Then, our conception of these effects is the whole of our conception of the object."

I see you, #hotd Daemon Targaryen beach run. I see you. via @YouTube
You stupid motherfuckers only brought a machine gun and seven guys with rifles to a Donnie Yen fight.
Some of these are 100% for me.

The really annoying thing about this RoP diversity tempest is that the people raging about protecting Tolkien's legacy don't seem to understand that the central themes of his work don't depend on jot on the color of the various heroes skins, but on their class.
Betraying an artists vision means betraying their themes and intentions, not changing what's effectively the color of the wallpaper. LoTR is about power and responsibility and heroism. The elves could be fucking purple, and nothing changes.
I mean, do you want the work to be a universal myth that transcends its time and inspires new generations, or do you want it to be a museum piece reflecting the very limited life experiences of its original creators.
