I’m going to offer commentary on the @SKGov white paper. Page by page.
This is an #skpoli thread nobody asked for, nobody needs, yet somehow, we all deserve…
Come with me on this journey…
Page 1.
Imagining some bureaucrat sending back draft 3 “No, the Drawing the Line graphic needs to be BIGGER.”
Draft 4 “No, bigger than the photos.”
*** EDO ***
Draft 5: PERFECT.
Page 2.
Ok folks here we go!
Ah, yes, nothing like good intergovernmental relations like coming right out of the gate with phrases like “under the guise”. Let’s assume ill intent and set a combative tone right from the start.
Carry on….
Whoa! I can’t wait to see the “show your work” portion of this math exercise. This… feels like a made up number.
Table of Contents.
Fantastic job. That is a table of contents.
Ok next page is laying down some fairly hefty allegations and using strong language. I fail to see any cited sources or glimmer of anything vaguely resembling research, but when your graphic is your own tweet, I mean… 😅
Next page…
Jesus! Yeah, uhm…
Just curious if you feel the same for the indigenous share of resources, because Wall wasn’t a fan. In fact, he denied the SaskParty would ever review the formula.
So far this is the vibe but heavier on canola… but carry on. It’s our rightful destiny or whatever the hell that means…
Very sorry. Very bored and distracted by this typo.
I would’ve thought the government could afford a proof reader.
We still haven’t gotten to anything of substance but I’m trying. God help me. This is a painful read.
Next page. We’ve made it to at least 1925. Progress!
RCAAN doesn’t understand Venn diagrams. You can have big tent coalitions, sure. But your middle connectors don’t get to flip and wear all the hats. You can’t be anti-public education AND run Regina Public School Board candidates. You can’t be Mr. Friendly Coach AND host Nazis. 🧵
Their fatal flaw in their quest for power and interconnectedness is they got so connected, all the batshit xenophobic white supremacy bullshit came with it.
SK people were somewhat ok punching down on trans kids through the Provincial @SKGov when it was coated in fluff (1/3)…
But by and large it is still frowned upon to be a f*cking Nazi sympathizer. And that’s what their most vocal social media supporter is.
He says not to be afraid to be called a bigot. So let me oblige.
This government is tied to proud bigotry and the Nazis are at the door.
So here’s an interesting little tidbit about this whole harassment investigation. I apologize if it’s been said before and for all the tags, but… 🧵 #skpoli
Remember how I said Reg Downs isn’t an MLA? @SeanTucker16
So … he’s not accountable to the MLA Anti harassment policy. He’s staff. Thats not a process that protects him.
I raise this because one thing @PremierScottMoe and the entire @SaskParty crew has been desperate to accomplish is to lump all this stuff together, like a Taco Bell Crunchwrap.
It’s not a Crunchwrap. That’s not how harassment complaints work.
People want change, but they don’t want the WORK of making change. 🧵 #skpoli
We have to stop thinking from the self-limiting perspective that demands a shortcut. Practically, it sounds something like: “Which candidate will take my interest from point A to point D?”
The better question is this.
“Which candidate has capacity for a thoughtful point A to B discussion, and the capacity to not only see value, but hopefully — create buy in within their team to finish the work that is creating change?”
That’s no contest. Regardless of ideology, Scott Moe has demonstrated his greatest skill is complete lack of control. He can’t wrangle his Ministers. People who stood for nomination + won are still leaving.
Policy is a mess. SIS is a 🗑️ 🔥 . We can’t even measure climate targets
🧵 Stating facts as facts does not endorse or condone the status quo.
We can’t solve problems if merely stating reality is a no-go.
This is part of the “magical ostrich thinking” that doesn’t fly IRL.
It’s not just a “left”/“right” problem. It’s celebrated ignorance.
I’ll give a typical progressive example and an evangelical right example.
The evangelical right:
“If kids learn about trans people, they’ll become trans”
No. Susan. That’s not how that works. It’s information.
Trans people exist. Stop projecting and sexualizing everything.
The left:
“Telling people 10% of Sask GDP is O&G is supporting climate change!”
No. It’s not. It’s a shared understanding of the current reality separate and apart from the necessary calls to action that diversify meeting energy needs. Things capable, informed experts are doing.
AKA Deputy House Leader. AKA who the BOIE report would have gone to seeing as the Government House Leader would have been a subject in a complaint investigation. *Had one transpired.
Psychology has broken down this thing called the Bystander effect. It’s where people witness bad behaviour, even bullying, and choose to say nothing because it’s not directly impacting them.
(2/6)
Moral courage has many ingredients. People who defy the bystander effect typically possess a combination of empathy, a strong sense of personal responsibility, self-efficacy, confidence, relevant training, and supportive social or cultural norms.

The amount of time that was spent last night trying to police my free speech outside the chamber, looking for cameras, and generally paranoid-gossipy behaviour to discredit gallery members was a whole side story within a story. (1/5)🧵

But after the fog of emotion — and this hits so damn close to home — I’ve come to realize something.
This isn’t a government of confidence.
No confident gov’t creates a culture of gossipy chatter and goes out of its way to disengage. It doesn’t turn to games/Netflix.
(2/5)
What I witnessed was a government that’s power drunk.
We have the most tent encampments in October the capital city has ever seen and a citizen burned to death in one this week. Right here in #yqr
