OK.

National Trust Member who, like me, never votes as unclear to to vote for.

Danger on the horizon and time to get active.

I shall try to make it easy for you.

1/. Read article to see how easy it is for a tiny number of voters to push highly undesirable candidates
2/. There are various ways of voting but you can do it online and if your main aim is to BLOCK the laughably named “Restore Trust” candidates the quickest and easiest way is to tick the Quick Vote option which supports the National Trust Leadership preferences.

They are
The link to the National Trust AGM voting site is here.

You might, like me, have to register using your name, email address, membership number and create a password first. And check your inbox for registration confirmation.

Choose Quick Vote for both.

nationaltrust.org.uk/features/annua…
Of course you may prefer to work your way through all the candidates and their backgrounds and vote individually for your preference but want to AVOID the supposed Restore Trust candidates.
The “restore trust” ones to AVOID are

Bola Anike, Prof. Jeremy Black, Phil Bradby, Edward Bulmer, Philip Gibbs, Zareer Masani and Rosamund Roxburgh.

Get cracking.

Get active.
And @LornaVMcCurry reminds us that if you have a joint membership or family membership make sure you all register and all vote.
I will flag up one member’s resolution re the A303 around Stonehenge that you may wish to give special consideration to in the RESOLUTIONS section of the vote.

I post that resolution here but would flag up that I’ve not weighed up the competing arguments

This.

If we are thinking human beings we should have grasped how this will be, given the Tories…and, I am afraid, the opposition version of a Labour Gov too.
The thing is. This is not like the financial crisis. People are very very angry. The Brexit deceit is becoming nakedly clear

People have seen the naked greed of the richest that underpinned Johnson/Truss era - especially the latter, loading debt on all to feed the richest.

“There’s no such thing as unfettered sovereignty. The three weeks since Kwarteng delivered his mini-budget have seen the shattering of that delusion.”
theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
“ For Truss and her now ex-chancellor were given the rudest of reminders that in our interdependent world there is no such thing as pure, untrammelled sovereignty. No government can do what the hell it likes, heedless of others.”
“ In this case, the restraint on sovereignty was not the EU: it was the money markets. But their verdict was as binding as any Brussels edict; in fact it was more so.”

Liz Truss looked and sounded as if she had the mother of all hangovers and could hardly wait to make a dive for the bucket off stage.
I give her until next week.

Then curtains.

So he should be. But he implemented what Truss advocated for in her leadership run & what she permitted.

If he goes she should go.
And it is thought he won’t just “take one for the team” but take her with him.

Secret footage reveals abuse of woman with dementia at luxury UK care home

Mocked, sworn at, assaulted, left on floor for 50 mins, when disoriented asking “Where am I?”, a male care worker crouched down close to her face & said “You’re in a fucking home” theguardian.com/society/2022/o…
Once again we are seeing what happens when care of some of the most vulnerable people in our country is monetised.

Look at the ownership.

Signature is described as the most expensive care operator in the UK & *looks after* more than 2,000 residents.
“It is owned by Revera, a Canada-based care company with more than 550 facilities worldwide, which in turn is wholly owned by a £150bn Canadian institutional pension fund investor.”

Concerns Homes for Ukraine scheme is being ‘quietly phased out’ | The Independent

I can’t emphasise enough how important it is for this scheme to be supported.

Homeless Ukrainians (mostly with children) is a trauma too far after all they have gone though independent.co.uk/news/uk/homes-…
Rehousing these families will be far FAR more expensive than supporting hosts to keep them in their homes.

But £350pcm per family just does not tough the sides of the costs and wear and tear (washing machines/ cookers/ home/ electricity & gas bills.
Not even with £100pcm extra for Nov/Dec/Jan to help with fuel bills

These families need the maximum security. And it makes sense financially too.
