🧵NEW from me: Tom Fitton, the far-right fake lawyer who got Trump into legal jeopardy with NARA previously worked secretly with Trump to falsely declare victory in 2020 before a single vote had been counted tyt.com/stories/7015be…#January6thCommitteeHearings
Trump has had difficulty hiring good lawyers for some time because of his record of urging attorneys to commit crimes, his refusal to heed their advice, and the fact that he doesn't pay bills.
Because of that, he has leaned heavily on Fitton, someone who has never been a lawyer.
Like many people who became prominent Trump advisers, Fitton had existed on the margins of Republican politics, regarded by party elites as cranks who shook down the rubes.
As Trump sought to illegally remain in office, most of his legal & campaign staff told him to stop.
Furthest-right Republicans--people like Fitton, Bannon, Ginni Thomas, Louie Gohmert--were the only people left onboard with Trump's criminal desires.
They devised a plan well before the 2020 election to falsely claim victory based on in-person ballots. Fitton wrote the script.
At today's #January6thCommittee hearing, @RepZoeLofgren revealed secret messages Tom Fitton sent to Trump aides regarding a draft speech he discussed w/then-president to lie that there was an Election Day vote-counting deadline.
It was the basis of everything that followed.
Despite the total failure of his fake legal advice, Fitton has remained influential w/Trump.
So much so that he may be the main person who convinced Trump to refuse NARA's requests to turn over the documents he'd illegally stored at Mar-a-Lago cnn.com/2022/08/25/pol…
That Fitton in 10/20 wanted Trump to preemptively end vote counting once it became obvious he would drastically lose mail-in ballots is a complete contradiction of something Fitton said in an 8/20 speech to the Council for National Policy, a secretive Christian supremacist group.
In August of 2020, Fitton claimed that Democrats were "war-gaming" plans to delay counting of the presidential ballots in order to make Nancy Pelosi acting president.
Given Fitton's extremely close ties to Trump and the fact that he is not a lawyer, it is very possible that the DOJ could leverage him to crack open the elite side of the criminal plot to keep Trump in office after his loss. Stay tuned for more! /end tyt.com/stories/7015be…

NEW from me: Passive Trump doesn't lift a finger as his social media stock deal circles the drain
Company looking to acquire "Truth Social" is about to self-destruct and Trump is refusing to save it 🧵 tyt.com/stories/7015be…
Digital World Acquisition Corp ($DWAC) looks poised to be the latest of many failed businesses linked to Trump. And once again other people will be left holding the bag.
The vast majority of DWAC stock owners are small-time investors who appear likely to get hosed.
Euphoria for Cheeto Jesus compelled thousands of Trump fans to lap up DWAC stock after "Truth Social" announced that it would be acquired by the shell company.
But the deal looks doomed amid 2 federal investigations and a board member whistleblower.

Digital World Acquisition Corporation, the "blank-check" SPAC trying to merge with Trump Media & Technology Group has faced a series of devastating legal and regulatory setbacks since it announced its intent to acquire Trump's Twitter clone.
Chief among them is an SEC investigation which appears to have been prompted by one of the co-founders of "Truth Social" named William Wilkerson who filed a whistle-blower complaint w/the agency alleging illegal contact between Trump and DWAC chief Patrick Orlando
Thread: "The Right Stuff" and the history of doomed reactionary dating websites
You may have heard of The Right Stuff, the MAGA singles website. It's actually a retread of an idea that failed many times before. Join me for some internet archaeology!
In the early days of the web, before corporate behemoths ruined everything, almost anyone could start up a site and attract users for it. There were tons of micro dating websites, often powered by dating-site-in-a-can software.
Sean Hannity decided to make one.
In 2006, he launched "Hannidate," which appears to have been one of the first prominent right-wing dating websites.
It appears to have cost him almost nothing to set up and he seems to have viewed it as kind of a joke. Here is the archived homepage.
NEW: Former Trump official Adam Hageman pleads guilty to possession of child porn, will serve 5½ year prison term. tyt.com/stories/7015be…
Adam Hageman, who was a Trump political appointee in the Commerce Department after working for Charlie Kirk's Turning Point USA, was arrested in November of 2020. He's the second national Republican operative to plead guilty to having highly disturbing content.
Hageman had "dozens" of videos of child abuse on his phone, per investigators. He said he preferred to rape children between the ages of 12 & 16.
His former employer, Turning Point USA, hosts hundreds of events for children in this age group. It has not commented on the case.
