🧵 Thread on Supreme Court's Justice Hemant Gupta who upheld the Karnataka HC order of #hijab ban in educational institutions.
The CJAR had in 2017 accused Justice Hemant Gupta of having the backing of the ruling government as he “comes from an influential RSS background”. (1/n)
Justice Gupta was also accused of money laundering, acquiring assets through illegal means, possessing disproportionate assets, and seeking to influence the ED officer who was investigating these charges. (2/n)
From the link given below you can download the letter written by CJAR to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court on 3 March 2017 along with Annexures for constituting an 'in-house inquiry' into the allegations against Hemant Gupta. (3/n) web.archive.org/web/2018100417…
Along with potential evidences of various allegations, the annexure contains record conversation between J. Hemant Gupta and the ED officer, in which he allegedly asked ED officer to meet & talk about probe into firm linked to his wife, and thereby tried to influence him. (4/n)
Hemant Gupta took oath as the Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court on 18 March 2017. Without any inquiry, He was promoted from a Patna High Court judge to the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh HC. (5/n)
Later in July 2017, Campaign for Judicial Accountability and Reforms (CJAR) convenor @pbhushan1 had issued a press note regarding inaction of CJI on their complaint against Justice Hemant Gupta. Read that press note from the archive link given below. (6/n) web.archive.org/web/2017071408…

Here is how India's mainstream media and their star anchors @ShivAroor@chitraaum@sudhirchaudhary@RajatSharmaLive spread false information on the national TV and run propaganda of the ruling party BJP. (1/n)
On 2 september, Indian Navy introduced new ensign inspired by chhatrapati shivaji's royal seal. And removed St. George's Cross from its flag. PM Modi unveiled this new ensign and said that India has shed traces of colonial past.
Previously, St. George's Cross was dropped from the Indian Navy flag in 2001 and for some reason, St. George's Cross was brought back to the Indian Navy's flag in 2004. This started a debate on mainstream media that why the sign of colonial past was restored back in 2004.
Zee Hindustan shared a video of women being grabbed by hair, dragged and beaten by sticks with a communal angle, claiming that the video is of a Hindu woman in Pakistan. But this is not the truth. How did we reach out to the victim and debunk the misinformation. Thread (1/n)
I did a keyword search and found an article from the Pakistani news portal Geo News. The article states that it is a case of land dispute in Sialkot. Police have registered a case against 15 and arrested 9 accused including 4 women. The article also includes a video report. (2/n)
I also came across an article by DAWN that says it's a matter of land dispute and the name of victim is Munawar Kanwal. In both these articles there is no any communal claim. Now how we confirmed if Munawar is indeed a muslim because we can't come to any conclusion by name. (3/n)
