Soccer is boring, they said while watching a NFL game between two of the league’s historically biggest teams with a grand total of one field goal on the scoreboard at halftime.

(But it’s 3-0, so!)

A candid conversation with former Philadelphia Independence player @JoannaLohman, who played for Paul Riley here and with Sinead Farrelly at two clubs.

On what Lohman saw then but didn’t know how to recognize, and what she sees now:

I very much appreciate Joanna Lohman’s candor and willingness to speak out.

She is one of a few former Independence players with whom I’ve kept in touch over the years (though there aren’t many).

And I know fans still remember her time here fondly.

Of course, few people in soccer who know Lohman - whether in Philly, D.C. or elsewhere - would be surprised that she’s speaking up on a matter of principle that’s important to her.

But I don’t take this interview for granted, so I wanted to mention that.

ESPN reports that its MLS broadcasts this year averaged 343,000 viewers.

That is English and Spanish combined, with games across ABC, ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes.

A 16% increase from last year, and the league's best season on ABC/ESPN networks since 2007.
No surprise that the top five audiences of the year were all games on ABC.

Maybe a surprise about the No. 1 game: Minnesota vs. Portland on July 30, 593,000 viewers.
And this is just in from Fox:

JP Dellacamera and @cobijones will call the Union's MLS playoff conference semifinal on Oct. 20.

(Hopefully they'll be at Subaru Park instead of in L.A.)

A warmup for their teaming up at the World Cup, where they'll call games together for Fox.

So, a question: Who is the most important player in team history?

How can a team’s all-time icon be someone who’s still playing? Philadelphia sports tradition dictates that an icon must be known only from the past.

But Andre Blake's impact here really has been that profound:

How can the Athlete Council expel Seth Jahn for his bigoted remarks?

I can't answer the question of *when* or what kind of meeting it would take. But I think I can lay out the pathway in the following thread.
1. The Athlete Council's official Policies and Procedures document spells out how a member can be removed.

2. The language in there probably isn't all that satisfactory for the general public. Understandable.

But you might wonder what the "Prohibited Conduct Policy is."
