Sustainable governance and good government are the bedrock upon which resilient economies are built. This was the underlying theme at KADINVEST 7.0, the investment summit of Kaduna State led by it’s performing Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.
I reiterated that as leaders, we must not only build infrastructure and develop our economy but we must also invest in people, capacity development, frameworks for sustainability in leadership and reforms.
This will ensure institutions and reforms are sustained beyond the lifecycle of any government for the benefit of all.
I was also happy to see the development strides the Governor El-Rufai @elrufai led Kaduna State Government has made by bringing sustainable development in many areas closer to the people of Kaduna.
If such can be replicated across various states and the national level, our Nigeria will truly earn its pride of place in the comity of nations.
Today, I congratulate elder statesman and eminent leader in Lagos State and Nigeria, Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi, on his 86th birthday.
A mentor and partner on the progressive front over the years, Prince Olusi has provided rare leadership and guidance for many of us in Lagos State and beyond.
He has contributed immensely to the development of Lagos in all spheres of life including political, economic and traditional.
President Buhari’s Optimism About APC Commendable- Asíwájú Tinubu
Recently, President Buhari made a characteristically concise and important statement regarding the strength and purpose of our political party, All Progressives Congress. He underscored the need for the party

to perfect its internal processes so that it keeps faith to the progressive purpose for which it was founded: to bring forth a better society through just and compassionate good governance.
While the election season is upon us and politics begins to acquire a heavy

intensity, we must never lose sight of this higher purpose, this greater good. Like the president said, we all must recall how progressive forces forged an alliance that produced the APC.
Our party came into being to answer the call of reform so that progressive governance

Like all decent Nigerians, I am angered and troubled by the terror and cruelty being visited upon the people of Borno, Yobe, Benue, Niger, Imo and other parts of the nation.
2. These attacks have caused many to disparage our military and security forces. This we must not do. Valiant men and women serve in our security forces, risking their lives to protect us.
3. We stand with them. Government also must continue to encourage the security forces to do their utmost to subdue this threat. The lives of innocent Nigerians and the future progress of the nation may lie in the balance.
I received with profound shock the news of the death early this morning of Mr. Yinka Odumakin, spokesman of Afenifere, committed fighter for democracy, dedicated civil society activist...
2. courageous and outspoken defender of whatever ideals and principles he believed in and a patriotic citizen in every sense of the word.
3. In the struggle against the annulment of the June 12, 1993, presidential election and the perpetuation of military dictatorship, Odumakin was never found wanting. He was at the vanguard of the battle even at the risk of his life and liberty.
The herder-farmer dispute has taken on acute and violent dimensions. It has cost too many innocent lives while destroying the property and livelihoods of many others. It has also aggravated ethnic sentiment and political tension.
2. Despite the efforts of some of those in positions of high responsibility and public trust, the crisis has not significantly abated.
3. Sadly, others who should know better have incited matters by tossing about hate-tainted statements that fall dangerously short of the leadership these people claim to provide. We all must get hold of our better selves to treat this matter with the sobriety it requires.
Today, we lost a great soul. Pa Lateef Kayode Jakande exemplified the best of Lagos and of Nigeria.
2. He could appropriately be described as the last of the titans ranking with the likes of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chief Adekunle Ajasin, Pa Abraham Adesanya, Chief Bola Ige, Chief Olabiyi Onabanjo, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, Alhaji Aminu Kano, among others.
3. Showing his extraordinary natural ability, Pa Jakande was largely self-educated, yet he rose to become a man of great knowledge and a preeminent figure in Nigerian journalism who stood as one of the most incisive and brilliant editorialists of his generation.
