Together we are stronger.
What I do believe is that as a workforce, we can stand up together and let our voice be heard.
I am worried about a chronically underfunded & understaffed NHS.
I am worried for some of my junior colleagues!
I see nurses who can't afford housing. I see nurses who can't afford to feed themselves and their families without working extra shifts.
I see people coming INTO work exhausted, not just at the end of their shifts.
I see patients affected by that.
As nurses, we want to be able to have time to care for your loved ones, or you. We want to be able to do this safely and in such a way that we are not overtired and worried about how we will afford time off work to recharge.
I wasn't going to tweet about this & just vote quietly
That is, until @theresecoffey decided to tell the world that nurses can leave if they want, we can find cheap labour elsewhere who can do those jobs.
There's no need to bring the nursing wage up near or above inflation to account for the years of underfunding.
If I choose not to strike, I will make sure that patients are safe while my colleagues strike. I will bring food and drink for them & fill social media with photos of how much support this country has for our NHS, for our nurses.
If I choose to strike, expect to hear more from me
