"A-die.." A-Yuan mumbled unhappily, clinging to his father's leg and hiding his face against his black slacks.
Lan Zhan frowned, gently running his fingers through his son's hair. "It's alright, A-Yuan. It's just a check up." He said softly.
"Wanna go home." He mumbled quietly, hiding behind his a-die's legs when he heard the receptionist giggle at him. He really, /really/ hated doctors. The last one he went to was absolutely horrible.
He was loud, and rude, and he was always so rough.
Not to mention he always
argued with his a-die, and never believed A-Yuan when he wasn't feeling well.
The last straw was when A-Yuan went to get his shots last time, Lan Wangji wasn't allowed back due to the examine room being too small, and A-Yuan had been freaked out by the needle and how rough
the doctor had grabbed his arm, holding him in place. He had left a bruise and A-Yuan was inconsolable for the rest of the day. Lan Wangji had left he worst review possible and promised to never take him back there again.
But he still needed to see a doctor regularly.
And so they were here, at a place his neighbor had recommended.
'He's an absolute delight with children, his bedside manner is amazing, and Mianmian cries when it's time to leave.'
"Please have a seat, Doctor Wei will be ready in a few moments."
"Thank you." Lan Zhan picked
up his son since the paperwork was signed and he took a seat, cuddling Lan Yuan to his chest.
"A-die I wanna go home."
"I know, baobei, but you need to get checked over."
"I'm not sick." He said quietly.
"I know, but you're a growing boy, you need to see a doctor reagularly."
The little five year old was about to argue again but the door leading to the exam rooms opened and a friendly looking nurse called for them.
"Lan Yuan? The doctor will see you now."
Lan Zhan stood, holding his son close and carrying him as he followed the nurse.
"Right in here, please." She gestured, letting the two go in first before following them in. She didn't argue when Lan Zhan sat with A-Yuan in his lap.
She got his vitals while he sat in his a-die's lap, hiding in his chest as best he could.
"Wonderful, the doctor will be in
shortly just to see you."
"Of course, thank you."
Once the door closed, Lan Zhan looked down at his son, gently rubbing soothing circles into his back. "See? That wasn't so bad."
A-Yuan whimpered slightly and looked up at him, eyes watery. Lan Zhan felt his chest constrict.
He pressed a soft kiss to his son's forehead before there was a knock at the door and it opened once more.
"Hello there~! I'm Dr. Wei! It's nice to mee-"
The doctor stops, eyes widen when he sees the pair.
"Wei Ying?" Lan Zhan asked in complete surprise, his own eyes wide.
A blinding smile lit Wei Ying's handsome features and he couldn't help but laugh a little as he shut the door behind him. "What a surprise. It's so good to see you! It's been years now!" He chatted happily before he put his hands on his hips.
"Ah, and you must be Lan Yuan." His
voice suddenly dropped to a gentle tone and he crouched slightly so he was eye level with the frightened little boy. "It is so very nice to meet you, oh aren't you just the cutest."
A-Yuan peeked out at him, fingers gripping his a-die's shirt. "You know my a-die?"
"I do! Or.. I did. We went to school together, back in high school." He smiled. "I'm Dr. Wei Ying, it's very nice to meet you kiddo."
He glanced at him, up to his a-die and then to Wei Ying again. "It's.. n-nice to meet you too."
Wei Ying's expression softened, "So, I hear
you've got a pretty scary experience with a doctor before, is that true?"
Another glance towards his a-die, who nodded, and then he looked back to Dr. Wei.
"He was very scary, and.. he hurt my arm."
Wei Ying's brows twitched, but his expression remained calm. "I see.. I'm
so sorry, little bun. That must have been very scary. I'm so sorry. I know words don't make fears go away, so, will you let me prove I'm not like that mean doctor?"
The little boy seemed to think for a moment before he nodded slowly, to which he received a comforting pat on his
back from his a-die.
Wei Ying spent almost an hour with his new little patient. Asking him questions, letting him answer when he was ready. He showed him the tools he was going to use, explained what he was going to do, and even let A-Yuan use them on himself, or Lan Zhan.
A-Yuan was so immersed in his conversation, that he didn't even realize Wei Ying had given him one of his needed vaccinations. So when Wei Ying held some cartoon Band-Aids out for him to pick from, the little boy was confused.
"For your shot."
"I don't want a shot." He whined
quietly, leaning into his a-die.
Wei Ying chuckled. "I already gave it to you, kiddo, when you were telling me about the dinosaurs."
"You.. did?"
"Mhm. You were such a big boy you didn't even feel it!"
"I... didn't. It didn't hurt." He looked where the band-aid was placed.
Wei Ying smiled, "Sometimes they can pinch, but most of the time, they don't hurt. And you were such a big boy today. One of my best patients."
"Really?"
"Mhm!"
A-Yuan seemed to take pride in that fact, lighting up some. "Dr. Wei... is my best doctor."
Wei Ying's eyes widened a little and he whined happily, cupping A-Yuan's face. "You are just so cute. Thank you. I promise I'll keep being a very good doctor for you." He assured before he stood up, looking to Lan Zhan who was watching him closely.
His expression softened some and he smiled an almost.. sad smile. "It was wonderful seeing you again, Lan Zhan."
"Mn.. Thank you, very much, for taking such good care of A-Yuan today."
"I try to take the best care of all my patients." He said warmly.
"But because he's your little bun, I'll take extra special care of him." His voice was so soft it made Lan Zhan's heart stutter, reminding him of the crush he had when they were in school.
"Wei Ying is too kind to me."
Wei Ying snorted. "Hardly. You put up with so much from me
growing up, taking care of your little one is the least I can do." He washed his hands in the sink, hesitating for a moment before speaking quietly. "Your wife must be very proud of what a wonderful little boy you two have."
"I do not have a wife."
"You don't? Ah- I'm sorry,
I didn't mean to-"
Lan Zhan realized how that sounded and quickly shook his head. "I have never been married. I adopted A-Yuan." He said lightly, gathering his son into his arms and standing.
The little boy in question looked between the two adults, unsure what this weird
feeling between them was.
"Oh..." Wei Ying paused, watching Lan Zhan for a moment, chewing gently on the inside of his lip.
"Wei Ying.. It.. please, feel free to say no, but.. I would... very much like if we could start talking again."
Silver eyes widened before a shimmer of /something/ glittered in those pretty gray hues. "Now Lan Zhan, I really shouldn't be giving my number out to patients." He said with a teasing tone, but he was already writing something down.
He handed over a slip of paper with his cell
phone number on it, his smile absolutely blinding once more. "But for you, I'll always make an exception."
Lan Zhan took the paper, glancing over the numbers with the little heart written next to it and his ears tinge pink. "Thank you."
A-Yuan blinks between them once more
before he tilted his cute little head. "A-die.. is Dr. Wei going to be my new baba?"
Lan Zhan began to sputter and Wei Ying's eyes widened before he started laughing. He grinned, ruffling the little boy's hair before he leaned down and whispered something to him.
A-Yuan nodded very seriously and wrapped his arms around his a-die's neck.
"I'll see you two around~" He opened the door for them, letting the still flustered Lan Zhan leave.
It took him McDonald's, ice cream, and an hour of screen time to find out what Dr. Wei whispered
to little A-Yuan.
"He said 'I'd love to, but your a-die has to call me first.'" A-Yuan repeated the message as he was tucked into bed, falling asleep almost instantly. He had a very long day after all.
Lan Zhan's head was reeling with this information, and it was no surprise
when he called Wei Ying that night.
A-Yuan had his new baba within the year.

"Bring him here." Wei Wuxian commanded, leaning back on the throne, one leg crossing over the other, his expression calm and cool.
The guards spared each other a glance before they hesitantly grabbing the male in question, forcing him in front of
Wei Wuxian, who gestured with his finger. Another glance between the guards before they forced him on his knees.
Wei Wuxian's expression relaxed, an easy grin settling on his lips as he lifted his foot, tipping his chin up to capture that piercing golden gaze.
"So, Lan Zhan,
finally at my mercy."
Lan Zhan let out a slow breath. "And what do you plan to do, your majesty?"
His eyes twinkled slightly. "I'm going to make you mine." He leaned forward, fingers gracing his cheek before he paused when he heard someone behind him clear their throat.
"A-Zhan, this is my boyfriend, Jiang Wanyin." Huan introduced, his hand resting sweetly on Jiang Wanyin's lower back,
The two shook hands and Lan Zhan nodded lightly. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Jiang Wanyin, thank you for taking care of my brother."
"I assure you, he doesn't
doesn't need anyone to take care of him."
Lan Huan smiled and kissed his boyfriend's cheek tenderly. "I thought you said you were here with your brother?"
"Ah, yeah, he's at that stupid arcade that's by the food court. I know you said your brother doesn't like crowds, so when
you said you were nearby, I came to the quietest part of the mall."
A soft expression graced Lan Huan's features, like he was swooning all over again. "Thank you. I know we sprung visiting on you last minute, but when you said you and your brother were at the mall,
Sorry guys, I know this isn't why anyone follows me, and I'm not looking for any sort of sympathy or pitty or anything.. I just need somewhere to vent.
Tomorrow marks 16 years since I lost my mom. Most days are fine. Of course I
think about her daily, but most days i can manage. This year has been hard. And I don't know why. I find myself thinking about her a lot. Missing her. Realizing how much of my life she missed. She wasn't there for my graduation. She wasn't there for my first boyfriend.
She wasn't there when I got accepted into college. She wasn't there when the pressure became too hard and I dropped out.
She wasn't there when I turned 21, when my sister was in the hospital and me and my best friend sat at home alone drinking a case of wine coolers that was
A soft hum left the God's lips, his eyes closed as he leaned back against the white and gold marble pillar, his fingers dancing slowly through his lover's hair, gently twirling and twisting his long bangs between his fingers.
The heavenly realm was beautiful today. Even more so than usual. Though that was to be expected.
"Wei Ying?" The soothing voice from his lap spoke up.
"Yes, your majesty?" His lips twitched into a smile and Starlight eyes glanced down, only to drown in a w a rm pool of honey.
"Shall we get moving to the celebration?"
"Is my lap not comfortable?" His grin only continued to grow.
There was a small huff before the mal rolled onto his side, pressing his face into the warm, toned skin of Wei Ying's stomach, only a thin fabric between them.
