When #Glee first came to our screens in 2009, viewers were captivated by the feet-tapping, all-dancing covers from William McKinley High School's highly ambitious students who dreamt of making it big in the music world.
However, after a slew of distressing instances occurred behind-the-scenes, the term "the Glee curse" was coined by an online social conspiracist. Here's why…
#CoryMonteith's drink and drug battle
Cory, who played McKinley, revealed he had a "serious problem" with drugs in 2009. He headed to rehab for "substance addiction" for a month-long treatment. Cory relapsed and overdosed on heroin and alcohol, tragically passing away at 31.
#NayaRivera's accidental drowning
In one of the show's biggest tragedies, Naya Rivera drowned saving her then-four-year-old son Josey Dorsey during a boating trip at Lake Piru, California. Her body was recovered six days after she went missing. She was 33. trib.al/Ho7gI9j
#LeaMichele's allegations of bullying
Lea, who played Rachel Berry, was accused of on-set bullying, which first began in 2020 when her former co-star Samantha Ware tweeted that Lea behaved with "traumatic microaggressions" towards her on set. trib.al/Ho7gI9j
Lea's other co-stars backed the claims, with Heather Morris saying: "Was she unpleasant to work with? Very much so; for Lea to treat others with the disrespect that she did for as long as she did, I believe she SHOULD be called out." trib.al/Ho7gI9j
The Dolls: ‘What we really crave is to work, love and exist with dignity’
As trans rights face increasing threat in the UK, Glamour honours nine of the community's most ground-breaking voices at this year's Women of the Year Awards. From fashion and music to charity and activism work, these trailblazers work tirelessly to empower, uplift and celebrate trans voices.
“When I hear Protect the Dolls, I think that it is time that we have the conversation about protecting the transgender community, especially trans women who are being so heavily targeted. But I think it’s really important that we then finish that sentence and talk about what we are protecting the dolls from.” - Munroe Bergdorf #GlamourWOTY
“We are only going to get through this if we stick together and support one another through this very difficult time.” - Dani St James #GlamourWOTY
Nearly three-quarters of adults in the UK (71%) do not get the recommended 7 to 9 hours of sleep a night. So it's no wonder the military sleep method has gone viral, especially when you throw in the anxiety-inducing state of the world right now. glamourmagazine.co.uk/article/milita…
If you haven't heard of the military method or seen it pop up on your newsfeeds, you've come to the right place – essentially, it's an old sleep hack that's been tried and tested by the US army, who say it does the job in just two minutes.
Apparently, after six solid weeks of practice, this will work for 96% of people who try the technique. Given it only takes two minutes each night, we'll be trying this pronto.
New images taken during filming for #TheCrown show Elizabeth dressed as Diana, in sunglasses, striped trousers and an oversized navy blazer with gold military-esque buttons – at first glance, you'd be forgiven for thinking it was an old shot of the Princess of Wales herself.
The photos were taken in Croydon and show Elizabeth jumping into a taxi as the press follow her – a scene that often played out in Diana's own life, as she was famously hounded by the tabloids.
We *need* to talk about the cast... #TheLostDaughter is crammed full of exciting stars: Olivia Colman, Jessie Buckley, Dakota Johnson and Paul Mescal (!) all star in the film, and Maggie Gyllenhaal directed it AND wrote the screenplay adaptation. trib.al/BPqO21k
As for the plot, Colman plays Leda, a mysterious university professor who becomes obsessed with a young woman, Nina (played by Johnson) and her daughter, while on holiday in Italy. The trailer's action teases the dark relationship that begins to develop. trib.al/BPqO21k
Created by Bafta-nominated writer Rob Williams, who wrote #KillingEve and #TheVictim, #Screw focuses on Leigh, a female prison officer who works in an all-male prison, which already tells us that there'll be a *lot* to unpack. glamourmagazine.co.uk/article/screw-…
Most exciting of all, the show's cast is made up of stars from #DerryGirls, #LineOfDuty and #IMayDestroyYou, meaning we'll be seeing some of our favourite on-screen talent acting alongside each other 🙌 trib.al/YXHOdtF
The six-part drama has been described by Channel 4 as a depiction of a prison like we've never seen before, showing "the uncensored, terrifying and often darkly funny reality of life as a prison officer in an all-male prison in 21st century Britain.” glamourmagazine.co.uk/article/screw-…
