A few thoughts on the state of the #Packers in form of a thread.

I said back in January the Packers needed to trade Aaron Rodgers. I thought they were better off. @AndyHermanNFL did a video talking about needing to know when your Super Bowl window is. GB missed the boat.
They are now an expensive roster with an aging QB that appears to be a not very good team right now.

So what's the strategy moving forward?

First - you can stop talking about OBJ. Rentals/short-term pieces are not worth it for this team until proven otherwise.
Trading high draft picks for potential contributors? Those players better be long term pieces, because this team does not look like a contender.

They cannot trade their first two picks, IMO. With the way they're playing would it shock you if those are top-40 picks?
So you can probably torch the idea of DJ Moore or anyone like that. This team is beyond the repair of bandaids and closer to the need for open heart surgery.

This is part of the risk of giving an old QB who thought about retiring a massive extension
It's also part of the risk of giving a lot of money to guys that have never played to that level before (Campbell/Douglas)

I've talked a lot about how I feel about building the team around "run the ball win with defense" so I won't re-hash that, but that has bit them now too.
Maybe that means Aaron Rodgers goes out on a sad note, but so be it.
The Packers have acquiesced enough to him since he threw his hissy fit two summers ago. They've also done enough damage to the potential long-term success of the team because of him.
That cannot continue. At some time, it's time to pay the piper.

They've gone far enough down the Pit/Ben or NO/Brees hole.

There is no short fix for that. There's pain. The hope is that Gutekunst can rebuild quickly like he did after the 2018 season.

That starts at QB
Rodgers isn't getting traded. He might retire at the end of the year. Love is in a contract situation that makes his situation weird.

If they're in the top 10 do they consider a QB? They absolutely should. That's where it all starts.

They also need to ID their core pieces
Some of those guys are already here

Clark, Gary, Alexander, Doubs, Jenkins, etc.

But it looks like this era is over and it usually is ugly when that happens.

The reason Peyton/Elway is such a special story is that it is so rare.

That won't happen for Rodgers
And that's whatever. There's plenty of blame to go around there and some of it belongs to Rodgers as well. Whether it's poor playoff performance or a hissy fit helping cost the team Davante Adams.

Rodgers is an all-time great Packer, but it's over. The most frustrating part is:
It was over last year. The Packers are famously good (as Rodgers even noted in his airing of grievances presser when he came back and acted as if he was gracing the team with his presence) at moving on a year early instead of too late.

With the QB - it's 1 year too late.
