'The Watcher' currently has Netflix viewers hooked but did you know it was based on a true events😮

[THREAD] 🧵 Naomi Watts
Produced by American Horror Story’s Ryan Murphy,
'The Watcher' follows a family who moves into a new home but soon receive creepy letters from a mysterious person “watching” their house.

But what makes it even scarier is that it really happened to a real family.
#TheWatcher
Back in 2014, Derek and Maria Broaddus bought their dream home at 657 Boulevard in Westfield, NJ but before long, they received a letter addressed to "The New Owner."

Eventually, the family told their story in The Cut and even shared the first letter in its entirety.

Some of the letter read: "Allow me to welcome you to the neighbourhood. My grandfather watched the house in the 1920s and my father watched in the 1960s. It is now my time."

Once The Watcher identified the couple’s children, they went to the authorities. The case remains open👀
