It's 5am in Iran and yet a sizeable crowd has gathered at Tehran's Imam Khomeini Airport to welcome Elnaz Rekabi, a female climber who competed without a hijab in Seoul and was subsequently censured and forced into an apology by Iranian authorities.

The crowd cheers as Elnaz Rekabi, a female climber who competed without a hijab in Seoul and was later censured and forced into an apology by Iranian authorities, arrives at Tehran's Imam Khomeini Airport in the early hours of the morning. #مهسا_امینی
At Tehran's Imam Khomeini Airport, a crowd chants "Elnaz is a heroine" upon the arrival of Elnaz Rekabi, a female climber who competed without a hijab in Seoul and was later censured and forced into an apology by the Iranian authorities. #مهسا_امینی
Elnaz Rekabi is welcomed by her family at Tehran's Imam Khomeini Airport this morning.
She competed without a hijab at an Asian climbing competition in Seoul and was later censured and forced into an apology by the Iranian authorities. #مهسا_امینی
The chant could also be translated as "Elnaz is a champion". The word "ghahreman" in Persian could both mean a sporting champion or a hero/heroine depending on the context. I think both translations are valid here
Correction: the correct local time in Tehran was around 03:30-04:00. Iran ended daylight saving time nearly four weeks ago
Elnaz Rekabi was interviewed by state media upon arrival. She repeated her Instagram story about her hijab "inadvertantly" falling off. She added she was feeling "stressed" and "tense" about returning but was fine, and denied she intended to retire. #مهسا_امینی #الناز_رکابی
For those unfamiliar with Iran, what Elnaz Rekabi said in that interview at the airport was basically what she had to say to maintain the safety of herself and her family. Iranian authorities have a long track-record of threats and forced confessions. #الناز_رکابی #مهسا_امینی

Holding a rally at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences today, male students chant "woman, life, liberty" and female students respond "man, homeland, prosperity" on day 13 of protests in Iran over the death of #MahsaAmini in police custody. #مهسا_امینی
Mahsa Amini, 22, was arrested by Iran's morality police for so-called "inappropriate hijab". She fell into a coma at a police station and sadly died at a hospital today. Morality police claim she had a "sudden heart attack". Her mother says Mahsa was murdered by the authorities.
Members of the public have started gathering in protest outside the hospital where Mahsa Amini sadly passed away after being detained by morality police.

THREAD: How to check if a tweet screenshot is fake?
Dozens of fake screnshots of tweets have gone viral in recently. So, here's a simple guide on how one can quickly check if a screenshot of a tweet attributed to an account is genuine or fake before falling for or sharing it.
Most of these fake screenshots are either made with a photo editing app or by using a fake tweet generator.
Here's a fake BBC tweet I've made using one of the many websites generating fake tweets. It looks legit and verified, but it's fake.
So how do you check its veracity?
These fakes are always screenshots, rather than tweets you can engage with. Go to the actual account and see if you can find the tweet on the timeline. If the date on the screenshot is not recent, do an advanced search and see if you can find that tweet from the account.
For the first time since 8 December 2020, Q, the key figure of the QAnon conspiracy theory, has posted drops on the extreme message board 8kun.
And a third drop today with a reminder about the infamous "QAnon oath" to confirm Q is really back.
And just like that, QAnon influencers and followers are back to baking and decoding Q's secret messages in what in reality are pretty lame one-sentence drops.
Apparently there are secret hints in the drops to today's reversal of Roe v Wade by the Supreme Court.
The woman on a stretcher, who was falsely accused by Russian officials of being "crisis actor" beauty influencer Marianna Podgurskaya after they bombed the Mariupol maternity hospital, has sadly died from her injuries along with her baby. apnews.com/article/russia…
Here's the Russian ambassador to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, holding her picture up and accusing her of "acting" just three days ago at a UN security council session.
And here's the Russian embassy in London making the same false accusations about her and Ms Podgurskaya after the attack on the maternity hospital in Mariupol.
Lots of videos and images alleging to show Russian attacks on Ukrainian towns and cities going viral on social media already. It is customary for old or false footage to go viral during a conflict, so please try to verify or check the source of the footage you see before sharing.
Over the next few days, we will be trying to verify viral footage and debunk as many falsehoods as we possibly can in relation to the conflict in Ukraine. If you come across videos, images and claims online that you suspect may be false, please DM (open) or email me (in my bio).
This video claiming to show "Russian jets targeting Ukrainian military assets" is old and unrelated to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
