FYI America: Red states = higher violent crime rates. “Of the 10 states with the highest 2020 per capita murder rates in America, eight of them not only voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020, they voted Republican in every presidential election this century.” thehill.com/opinion/campai…
Republican controlled cities/states have higher murder rates. “Jacksonville, a city with a Republican mayor, had 128 more murders in 2020 than San Francisco, a city with a Democrat mayor, despite their comparable populations.” thirdway.org/report/the-red…
In fact, the homicide rate in Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s San Francisco was half that of House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy’s Bakersfield, a city with a Republican mayor that overwhelmingly voted for Trump. The GOP is spinning a big lie about violent crime thirdway.org/report/the-red…

TO HELL WITH THE POLLS. EVERY POLL PREDICTED A WIN FOR ANTI-ABORTION ACTIVISTS IN THE KANSAS REFERENDUM LAST AUGUST. THEY LOST BY 60%. GET OUT AND VOTE! #BLUEWAVE2022 npr.org/sections/2022-…
I lived this: Like all New Yorkers I watched as Trump let us die during pre vaccine COVID wave, withheld federally ppp supplies, ventilators. Called COVID “the flu.” And Lee Zeldin touts Trump’s endorsement? Hell no to Zeldin. He is an extremist of the worst kind. #BlueWave2022
Looks like this post is proving effective so the trolls are piling on. I’m going to save us all the headache and turn off comments.
Trump on the COVID pandemic 3/20. “Stay calm, it will go away. You know it -- you know it is going away, and it will go away, and we're going to have a great victory."
“Barefoot, Pregnant and In The Kitchen” Was Never Intended As a Joke
This long standing conservative political strategy is being codified back into law right now. remakingmanhood.medium.com/barefoot-pregn… /1
The men forcing birth on women fully understand that women raising children are less likely to show up in the workplace, in politics, in any place where they can challenge the power of conservative men. /2
Overturning Roe v. Wade is designed to suppress women’s political, educational and professional agency. “Keep them barefoot and pregnant and in the kitchen” was never a joke. It’s been the political strategy of conservative men for generations. /3
The Republican party’s dominance-based authoritarianism is fueled by alpha displays of economic, political and physical violence inside and outside the party. Everyone must be kept off balance, distrustful, in competition for what limited security exists. The cruelty is the point
How will the GOP’s extremist authoritarianism culture play out in future legislation, tax policy, women’s rights, immigration, social security, healthcare? In a dominance-based political culture, leaders vie for power by one upping each other’s displays of dominance.
You pass a law outlawing abortion? I’ll pass a law putting a $10,000 bounty on women who seek an abortion. This need to escalate displays of dominance is why the downward spiral of authoritarianism accelerates as it takes hold. We are seeing this spiral now in the GOP.
THREAD: Domination Culture is What the GOP is Selling
--We’re up against a deadly dangerous enemy, and too many of us are still asking the wrong questions.
What do MAGA voters believe? That's the one question we don't need to be asking. remakingmanhood.medium.com/domination-cul… /1
I originally published this article in August of 2020. It is even more relevant today as crucial framing for the motives of the Republican Party's MAGA voters. Voters that have come to define the entire GOP's local, state and Federal agendas. /2
The article: "As the Republican Party leans more and more into what seem to be impossibly contradictory positions, we need to understand Trump’s base isn’t about what’s rational. It’s about the visceral pleasure of domination. /3
THREAD: The Alphas/Beta Dynamic is Accelerating the GOP’s Slide into Authoritarianism
--Alpha/Beta masculinity is a terrible idea. It’s also driving the Republican Party’s descent into madness. remakingmanhood.medium.com/the-alphas-bet… /1
Sen. Josh Hawley, one of the most well known authoritarian voices in the Republican Party is not a so-called alpha. If we go with the arguably terrible alpha/beta view of masculinity, Hawley is actually a beta trying to be an alpha. /2
@JasonAblin recently tweeted this. It really resonated. For me this "wanna be" dynamic speaks directly to the acceleration of GOP authoritarianism.
