I messaged as requested… and an automated reply came back asking me to call…

So I called & spoke to a lady in lettings who found the address but no record of a leaky ceiling?!!!! I said that was odd since Jake had been dealing with it…
Shortly thereafter, received a call from Jake followed by this message on FB.
RAIN arrived… and nothing except another update from Jake to say Richard would call. He didn’t call.

Instead, he sent a text & didn’t acknowledge the response he received. So I called Richard. He said he’d tried to call (nope - no missed calls from him). And that he hadn’t heard back until he sent this message at 6:05pm. It “was too late now”. Nothing he could do.

I reminded him that it’s been going on a month, that it was raining AGAIN & that someone needed to arrange alt accommodation tonight as between them, #JacksonsProperties & @johnhiltons have left a 19 year old frightened student in unsafe accommodation…
7/12
Again he said there was nothing he could do & it was up to @johnhiltons to arrange alt accommodation. As of yet, he’s not bothered to respond to the text he received from an increasingly anxious and frightened 19 year old.
8/12
I called the @johnhiltons out of hours team. Twice! Neither Raza nor Ali were able to help as they didn’t have access to any notes & they’d been unable to reach their ‘emergency escalation contact’. So, they were both unable to authorise any payment/reimbursement for…

… MUCH needed alternative accommodation tonight. In the end, it was Millie looking after @johnhiltons FB page who was finally able to help. She messaged with an update & I brought her up to speed…

Fingers crossed remedial work will start tomorrow.
In the meantime, a really BIG thank you to @Fern_Britton, @realverucasalt, @NVRnorthampton & everyone who took the time to read, support & amplify this thread. You helped enormously! ❤️
And finally from one very tired, warm, dry & safe uni student…

Leak Update #3 - After another horribly stressful day, R checked into @premierinn at 11:35pm last night & had her first decent night’s in ages.
Some temporary relief but it’s not yet over…

Millie & Catrina @johnhiltons have both been great & really helpful.
#JacksonProperties so far, have not! A contractor arrived this morning to assess the damage. He can’t do anything until Monday & with a load more rain forecast - tomorrow, Monday & Tuesday…

…there’s still no certainty as to when the necessary repair work will be carried out.
Reminder… this leak was first reported to #Jacksons#Properties 30 (!!!) days ago.
This is just appalling, aren’t things tough enough for our young people?!! A friend’s 19 year old daughter, a Uni student @BIMM_Institute in #Brighton, reported a leak to her lettings agency @johnhiltons on 23/09/22. Water has been coming through the ceiling in her bedroom… 1/3 twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
…& onto her bed. She has been v patient but almost a month has gone by & STILL no attempts have been made to fix the leak - it’s just grown bigger & is now dripping through the light fitting! She can’t sleep & the stress is affecting her MH & well-being.
With more wet weather on the way, she is understandably concerned about further water damage to her possessions not to mention her H&S. @johnhiltons you are taking her rent & have a duty to ensure the #StudentAccommodation you provide is safe & fit for purpose. It is not!
