A week after #Jan6, I wrote this:

"If Donald Trump could give birth, it would have been to Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert, both of whom are clearly created in his image"

And 3 weeks after #Jan6, I wrote this:

If MTG was a Muslim, she would be in Guantanamo Bay, in shackles. But because she is white, evangelical, and a woman--a rich one at that--she is instead a member of Congress in the most powerful country in the world. feministgiant.com/p/if-marjorie-…
Elle magazine, Oct 2020: “MTG, Republican nominee for Georgia’s 14th congressional district, is like a lot of white women you might encounter in the suburbs. She has long blonde hair & does CrossFit. She wears cute dangly earrings, tasteful blouses & sheath dresses..." Headline: The Real Housewives of QAnonTexy: Marjorie Taylor Greene, the Republican nominee for Geo

It only took U.S. media 2 years.

The danger, always, is that someone as vile as Greene is normalized by U.S. media.

White, blonde, Christian women--even the dangerous ideologues--are afforded the privilege of default and the audacity of innocence.

feministgiant.com/p/if-marjorie-…
The record number of GOP women who flipped blue seats red in 2020 midterms are anti-feminists who are enjoying the fruits of what feminism has long fought forall as they cut feminism at its knees by opposing abortion rights, paid family leave, equal pay, and espouse racist views.
All but one of the new GOP female lawmakers are white. Thanks to its own white supremacy that acts like cataracts impairing its ability to see its own racism, U.S. media tip toes around them & refuses to call them out for the racists & fascists among them feministgiant.com/p/a-white-supr…
That QAnon, a far-right conspiracy movement which the FBI labelled a domestic terror threat in 2019, elected Greene and Boebert to Congress speaks volumes to the depraved depths that white supremacy will plunder as it clings to power.
Lawmakers like Greene and Boebert are emblematic of white women who undergird right-wing populism - as voters and candidates. Just because they are so fond of posing with weapons, don’t take a Glock as a stand-in for feminism. On the left, Marjorie Taylor Greene poses with a machine gun
Greene was dangerous and vile long before she was elected but because much of her vileness was directed at Muslims, Black people, and Jews, Republicans shrugged and carried on being the craven shits they are, happy to throw their weight behind anyone who brings them votes.
It is imperative to recognize that MTG, like Trump, is not aberration. She is from Georgia, where 75% of white women voters chose a white man - Brian Kemp - against Stacey Abrams in her campaign for governor in 2018. =
Southern white women are the nexus of the GOP’s Southern Strategy’s reliance on race, gender, and religion to keep white people in that part of the U.S. resolutely Republican and increasingly right wing. feministgiant.com/p/if-marjorie-…
White supremacist and increasingly evangelical patriarchy has an army of willing white women serving as its footsoldiers in the South.

Voting patterns must be disaggregated by region and race because when they are, it is clear that white women do not overwhelmingly vote Democrat
Far from it: 78 percent of white women who call themselves southern voted for Trump in 2016,

Remember the above as we get closer to the midterm elections in the U.S.

And remember to disaggregate "women" when you see figures like these reported by the Washington Post.

From a very young age girls around the world are told that they are vulnerable and weak. By the age of 10, research shows they believe it. Conversely, boys are fed the stereotype that they are strong and independent. time.com/4948607/gender… (tweet below h/t @Asmauu_Ahmed )
I came across that research while writing the chapter on Anger and the importance of nurturing it in girls, in my second book The Seven Necessary Sins for Women and Girls feministgiant.com/p/how-much-is-…
The research was part of six-year study of gender expectations around the world--Global Early Adolescent Study--which gathered data on 10- to 14-year-olds from 15 different countries of varying degrees of wealth and development. time.com/4948607/gender…

It’s #WorldMenopauseDay.

It’s been menopause every day in my body for several yrs now.

Perimenopause—the stage leading up to the cessation of the menstrual cycle—has been kicking my fucking ass.

So while I’m not a fan of “days,” I’m glad to see more conversation on menopause
Menopause is the hardest thing that has ever happened to me. And it’s the best thing I’ve ever gone through.

Menopause is shit. Menopause is amazing.
feministgiant.com/p/essay-menopa… #WorldMenopauseDay
One of the greatest gifts of menopause is shamelessness.

So let’s use “days” like this to talk about what is too often whispered, if not silenced altogether.

e.g. how vulvas and vaginas change as we go through menopause feministgiant.com/p/essay-in-app… #WorldMenopauseDay

tw: rape, sexual assault
"The case is just the latest example of a predominantly white police force refusing to take seriously reports of missing and murdered Black, Brown and Indigenous victims – especially women and girls."
It is telling that police are thought to be our protectors from rapists and predators when they do very little to protect us from rapists and predators.

Watching a revolution is like staring at the sun; it will ruin your vision for life. Every time you close your eyes, its imprint is still there. #MahsaaAmini

I’ve been writing about my #perimenopause for a few years now. My essays have covered the physical as well as emotional and mental health impacts of this transition.

I will soon start power lifting & will be documenting that too! Until then 👇🏽 feministgiant.com/p/essay-menopa… #Menopause
Last year I started regular:
- strength training (for my bones)
- stretching (for my joints)
- walk for an hour (for my heart and anxiety)
- dance (for my heart)

But this year, I've been less consistent because I started traveling for work again.

For the coming year, I want to graduate myself from at-home weights to working with a trainer to power lift.

It is consistently recommended for those of us going through menopause. So yalla!
