Tonight Trump blamed America for Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, war crimes there, and nuclear threats; said there’s no free press or free speech in America; and said Democrats want Iran to have nukes. And all this deceit and anti-American rhetoric was preloaded onto a teleprompter.
We’re well past the point at which we could say Trump doesn’t know anything about America or our politics and tells tens of thousands of lies simply to hide his ignorance and advance his career. His scheme to undermine America and spread Kremlin lies is premeditated and sinister.
If you want to know how the Kremlin sees America—lies about our crime rates, freedoms, leaders, and foreign policy—all you have to do is go to any Trump rally.

In 2016, Putin’s friends and allies co-wrote Trump’s speeches (Google it). I wonder if this is happening again in 2022.
You will never hear more hatred of America than at a 2022 Trump rally. And much of it is orchestrated—literally. Violins play over the loudspeaker as a man who has betrayed his country over and over and over again does so to a script whose author we do not know and really should.
I’m serious. Watch the video below, understanding that *every word of it* synchronizes with Kremlin propaganda about how weak, divided, rudderless, hypocritical, dangerous, broke, and morally lost America is.

Putin could have delivered these lies—and has.
In 2016, Donald Trump’s early foreign policy speeches—as reflective of the Kremlin’s viewpoints as any speeches ever given by an American politician—were co-written and co-edited by Kremlin agents and/or associates and/or allies Manafort, Simes, Burt, Kushner, and Papadopoulos.
Now we learn that Trump wants the most pro-Putin elected official in the U.S., Marjorie Taylor Greene, as his 2024 VP. And tonight he’s in Texas attacking America ruthlessly—with literally scores of lies about people, data, events and trends—using words the Kremlin would applaud.
I don’t *know* why Trump wants to destroy America. I only know that he has done everything he possibly can to undermine and weaken this country and our national security since he entered politics in 2015, having spent the preceding 30 years trying to cut business deals in Russia.

L: Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams’ skin color.

R: Abrams’ skin color in the cover image of the new @politico hit-piece on her.

Foreign Policy reports Politico owner Axel Springer SE “has a decades-long record of bending journalistic ethics for right-wing causes.” Image
I’ve read the Politico hit-piece on Abrams, who’s currently down 52-44 in the “poll of polls.” The sum and substance of it is that she may have overpaid a law firm that handled a major election case for her and that she chose to work with a law firm run by someone she knows well.
There’s no scandal here. Were Stacey Abrams a white man named—just spitballing—“Donald Trump,” this situation wouldn’t breach his Top 1000 scandals. But Abrams is held to a different standard for reasons that... well, I think the Politico cover image makes it all very clear, yes?

I wrote this tweet 3.5+ years ago, @mtaibbi, contra your claim that journalists only recently abandoned the term “Russiagate” you pro-Kremlin hacks have been slinging as orchestrated counter-messaging for years; and since you searched my feed for “Russiagate,” I *know* you saw it twitter.com/i/web/status/1… Image
Remarkable how little respect you have for your readers, @taibbi. You say that journalists abandoned the term “Russiagate” once they saw that the allegations against Trump were “falling apart”—which of course they never did—then quote me using the term in March 2017, pre-Mueller.
A search of my 130,520 tweets, @taibbi, shows me using the Kremlin-ally-coopted term “Russiagate” all of *one time* after 2017—not counting two times I was directly quoting one of you Kremlin apologists. You are a fraud and a liar, and you haven’t been a journalist for years now.

(🔐) NEW at RETRO: Bothsidesism Invades Westeros: An Incredible First Season of House of the Dragon Ends with a Wet Fart

I’m pretty steamed right now. I absolutely adored Season 1 of HOUSE OF THE DRAGON. And then tonight happened.

I pull no punches here. retrostack.substack.com/p/bothsidesism…
As I’ve been noting since mid-month, RETRO is celebrating its first birthday. Through Halloween, all annual subscriptions are 20% off ($40). All you have to do is click the link atop this thread to get the discount—the largest RETRO’s ever offered. Hope you’ll check out the site!
(PS) I have to say, it seems like many people were disappointed in the HOUSE OF THE DRAGON season finale—as I was, though perhaps for different reasons (see article at RETRO). What is odd is that when I bagged on THE RINGS OF POWER, unlike HOTD a horrid show, folks *flipped out*.

I don’t know how it happened, but the Trump biographers who knew this for certain because of their research in 2016 and 2017 were outsold by Bob Woodward 10-to-1 despite him only coming to this conclusion now. A failure of media, or of publishing? Or both? msn.com/en-us/news/pol…
In any event, I’m glad Woodward is saying this. He won’t face any of the attacks from the left that other Trump biographers faced for years after saying this half a decade ago, but at least the arrogant major-media establishment may listen now. I mean, if they see a profit in it.
To be clear, if someone is actually a threat to democracy it requires an immediate and dramatic change not just in how they’re covered by major media but in the very philosophy undergirding that coverage. Major media should consistently position Trump as a threat to this country.

This is scary. Fake Christians are now writing up their own “prophetic Words”—monologues that claim to be the voice of God—and then using them in ways that could encourage domestic terrorism. The video below appears to be a threat to the U.S. Capitol. @FBI rumble.com/v1ojblg-an-ove…
IN THE VIDEO/ Regarding the destruction of the so-called One World Government and the “tearing apart” of people who work for it, this cretin says: “A national monument will be in your news—for a surprising reason. A building will collapse and it will be in your news. This will...
CONT./ “get the whole world’s attention. Remember the walls of Jericho. Your enemy’s walls—and their buildings—are all coming down.” This woman says she’s linked to Flynn’s ReAwaken America.

Flynn was tied to Jericho March, which prayed the Capitol walls would fall on January 6.

I’m not writing about the Trump subpoena—as it’s meaningless. Trump won’t honor it or face consequences for not doing so. It matters only in that its accompanying materials underscore that the House January 6 Committee will issue a DOJ referral on him. Which will also be ignored.
Here’s what matters: the evidence of Trump’s criminality the Committee didn’t—yet—disclose, and the fact that Congress must find a way to keep the January 6 investigation going because it’s nowhere *near* over. A sure-to-be-ignored subpoena dumped on a Friday doesn’t interest me.
So I would be doing readers a disservice if I broke down this document beyond saying that the full subpoena package—in its totality—outlines a number of crimes and virtually ensures a criminal referral on Trump. But again, what matters is *keeping this Committee from disbanding*.
