I dislike going full angry customer, especially on a fellow beauty brand CEO but the dark patterns on #MeritBeauty’s return process should worry @KatherinePower and @L_Catterton for their customer lifetime value jfredrickson.com/day-659-and-e-…
They won’t give me a return label until I review each product. Sorry guys but you ask for “why” on a return after letting the customer begin the process. Doing anything else is meant to hinder a return
I’m the sort of person who is easily derailed by dark patterns when it’s like $70 of stuff. I can eat it. But I will hit a point of irritation and simply escalate my concerns for the business straight to your board and private equity firm simply because customers matter
Small petty indignities are making people snap. It’s crucial CEOS see where in a process a minor detail (ask for why before giving a return label) can add up into cascades in your data that tanks success metrics like return customers and LTV

Fuck man the social scene in Montana is legitimately perfect for me. Everyone here is WEIRD as shit. Was hanging out with old school pirate cyberpunks tonight
My neighbors are all so fucking cool it honestly slays me
Talking about manufacturing pirate drugs and whether ethereum has given up on being censor free and medicinal herbs and foraging in our canyon and how DAOs might organize collectives and usher in a new economic age.

On the end of empire, crypto, oligarchs, #ETHDenver and gambling on outrunning the collapse jfredrickson.com/day-414-and-em…
Being at a crypto convention in 2022 is something else. It’s full jubilee at the end of the world shit. You are surrounded by millennials and gen-zers who know in their gut that their future has been stolen from them.
Everyone is soaking in student debt and working shitty interchangeable jobs for corporations owned by private equity. No one can afford a house. No one is stable enough for a marriage and children.

You can improve your health starting right now. Go outside & soaks up some sun.

Here is your starting point for improving your basic biomarkers. jfredrickson.com/day-91-and-bio…

Here is your starting point for supplements. jfredrickson.com/day-210-and-ex…

Lose fat mass, gain muscle
Vitamins D should absolutely be your starting point for supplements. I like EFAs for anti-inflammatory purposes but you need to take it for a while to get results.

If you are sick take vitamin C & Zinc.

If you are struggling metabolically get Metformin.
Losing fat is really important. I’m not saying you have to be skinny or that carrying any fat is inherently unhealthy but lean muscle mass is good for calming inflammation.

Moving more is good. Lifting heavy things is good. Stretching is good.

On day 304 I combine psychogenics and let the spice flow. Baudrillard’s Hyper reality, @EpsilonTheory the long now, @PaulSkallas refinement culture, @PezeshkiCharles empathy deficit and the new Dune movie. jfredrickson.com/day-304-and-hi…
But it’s fascinating to see just how much the Denis Villeneuve version matched it’s predecessor. It’s got the same muscular Christianity that tosses up messiah myths in the desert but this time with Baudrillard’s hyper reality.
Dave Bautista is a great aesthetic match for the grotesque petrodollar plutocracy. You love to see it. Timothée Chalamet is a terrific white savior. Zendaya is Pocahontas.

Let me tell you about the Thursdays Styles problem. It is a problem about zeitgeist, wealth and perception and it’s overlap with power.
The @nytimes publishes its “styles” section on Thursdays and Sundays. Generally speaking if you work in media, PR or culture you are aware of the general trends that will emerge on Thursday ahead of time. For the sake of argument let’s say I know directionally on Tuesday
If you know “what everyone knows everyone knows” ahead of time @EpsilonTheory writes brilliant work on this. There is a lot of money to be made bring a Tuesday person. You sense the zeitgeist ahead of time & move to take advantage of it
