An FP/M+ one-shot released today in Japanese!

Gentarou begins the chapter in a meeting with his editor at his favorite café. Gentarou’s latest story, The Magician in the House of Magic, has won an anime contract, and Gentarou has been invited to voice one of the characters as a guest appearance. #hypspoiler

Gentarou is reluctant to accept, as he has no acting experience. However, when he finds out that the character they want him to play is the detective’s lying assistant and younger brother, Gentarou is intrigued. (The editor comments that the role is very him.) #hypspoiler

Gentarou agrees to take the job. But on one condition! You see, the true culprit in this tale happens to be a gambler, and Gentarou thinks he knows just the man to cast for the role. Just the man happens to be in the midst of playing pachinko when Gentarou calls him. #hypspoiler

Dice attempts to get Gentarou to spot him some cash, but Gentarou ignores him and says that if Dice doesn’t get to the café in five minutes, Gentarou will start charging Dice interest on what he owes. As Gentarou counts the seconds, Dice RUNS his ass off. #hypspoiler

He makes it with three seconds to spare, arriving as a wheezing mess. Meanwhile, perfectly unruffled Gentarou points out that it should have taken him 15 minutes. With enough money on the line, Dice can apparently achieve the superhuman. #hypspoiler

Gentarou attempts to move on to business, but Dice cuts him off and asks if Gentarou can give him a bite to eat as well. Dice has had nothing in his stomach but water from the park drinking fountain for days. What about that money Dice was gambling with? #hypspoiler

Dice tells Gentarou that Gen doesn’t know shit. Today’s the 7th, right? And that means there’s some hip happenings going down at the pachinko parlor, hence why Dice cut back on food expenses. At any rate, after Gentarou gets a meal in him, they settle down to talk. #hypspoiler

Dice strikes up an after-meal cigarette and thinks about the proposition. He doesn’t have any acting experience either, so he’s not keen to say y—Gentarou reminds him that he’ll be paid, and Dice changes his tune real quick. Voice acting is his middle name! #hypspoiler

On the day of the recording, the two friends walk in (squabbling over how they were almost late) and meet the editor and the VA playing the main character. The VA’s a big fan of Gentarou, and Dice is a HUGE fan of the VA! He played Ka*ji in that one gambling anime! #hypspoiler

Dice shakes his hand in the hope that some of Ka*ji’s luck will rub off on him, despite the VA’s protests that he was only acting. Gentarou apologizes for Dice’s distinct lack of intellect, and while the two squabble some more, the director calls them in to start. #hypspoiler

As they begin recording, Dice gets lost in the text and flubs a few lines, making them have to start over. Gentarou’s nailing the arrogant bastard role (shocking), whereas Dice… turns out to be really good at making dying noises, complete with creative illustrations. #hypspoiler

In fact, he’s SO good at making dying noises that Gentarou volunteers him to act all the random background characters that die. Dice is a lot less eager but rises to the challenge admirably, although the praise (and pay) may go to his head a little… #hypspoiler

Once that’s complete, the two record their final scene. The dramatic tension is mounting wonderfully, until, as Dice’s characters rushes in to stab Gentarou’s, Gentarou asks for the 50,000 yen he lent the other day. Wait, that’s not in the script! #hypspoiler

Gentarou tells the poor staff that he’s ad libbing and asks them if he can keep going. They reluctantly agree, and the pals continue the scene… only for Gentarou to interrupt again with the reminder of 170,000 yen owed from 52 days ago lent at 9:15:32 a.m.! #hypspoiler

His character advances on Dice’s, threatening him with all the details of these past transactions written in his detective’s notebook. He looms over Dice’s character like a specter, demanding he pay up, until Dice, crying in terror, throws himself to the floor IRL. #hypspoiler

Please, he begs! Forgive his debts! Gentarou chuckles and admits that everything he just said was—you guessed it—a lie.

Later, Dice pops in at the café where Gentarou is writing again. He’s come with great news! #hypspoiler

Apparently, the episode they worked on did so well that the show’s going to be put on BluRay. Nice! And that must mean Gentarou’s getting royalties, right? Dice clasps his hands over his head and begs please, pretty please, could he get some of the profit? #hypspoiler

Gentarou says he’ll think about it, so long as he knows what Dice is using it for. Alas, much to Gentarou’s disgust (and Dice’s wide-eyed delight), it’s because there’s a huge horse race happening tomorrow that Dice wants to go bet on. Classic Dice. #hypspoiler

The chapter ends there, to be continued next month on November 28th! The next chapter will be another Hifumi and Doppo bonus track. This should also be the last of the four oneshots.
