Just watched the Kamen Rider Black Sun Ep 1. Episode did a great job at establishing that this is a hard reboot of Kamen Rider Black. There are some familiar elements, but this is not the same story, and you can easily watch it without any Kamen Rider BLACK knowledge. 🧵
The episode made it clear that it will have heavy political themes that is based around the current affairs. Some scenes might feel uncomfortable to some viewers.
What surprised me the most, aside from the suit inspired by the Kamen Rider BLACK manga suit is the gore. Seeing Black Sun perform a Fatality to a kaijin took me by surprise. I am ready for this show to be a mature reboot, but more on a storytelling sense, not in a visual sense!
So yeah, If you have 45 minutes to spare, and you don't get easily bored because of a lot of dialogue, this is an interesting take on Kamen Rider BLACK.

Just a reminder, all three main Kamen Rider films from the 90s, namely: Shin Kamen Rider: Prologue, Kamen Rider ZO, and Kamen Rider J are all legally available for free on YouTube with English subs. Watch them below this thread:
Originally released in 1992, Kamen Rider Shin is a reimaging of the core Kamen Rider concept, and is the first standalone film of the franchise. Film also celebrated the franchise's 20th anniversary.
Directed by Keita Amemiya of Garo and Jetman fame, Kamen Rider ZO came out in 1993 and is often recommended by fans as a good entry point to the series as it is 45 minutes long and it distills the essence of the franchise under that time.
