I’m at the #Florida Board of Medicine meeting. Right now Dr. Erin Jenson is speaking in support of #GenderAffirmingCare and the meeting room seems calm. Let’s see how quickly this meeting progresses into a shit show. 💕🏳️‍⚧️💕 #TransRightsAreHumanRights

Prior to my arrival, fml I went to the wrong Orlando Hyatt, Dr. Biggs (against GAC) and Dr. Dayton (in support of GAC) spoke. Full disclosure: I learned this from a nice person sitting next to me who is taking notes and wearing a “Protect Trans Kids” tee.

Dr. Katalia is parroting politically-charged claims— that ~80% of trans kids will spontaneously “desist” gender incongruence & identify as cisgender by natal puberty- claims rooted in bias from scientifically flawed studies, which aren’t supported by sound scientific evidence.

The Board had a follow up Q for Dr. Katalia, about the co-morbid mental health conditions. She’s claimed the evidence that GAC improves adolescent mental health is “lousy.”

However, a Cornell University meta-analysis of 55 primary peer-reviewed research studies published from 1991 to 2017 found that “gender transition, including medical treatments such as hormone therapy and surgeries, improves the overall well-being of transgender individuals.”

Dr. Micheal Laidlaw, and endocrinologist is up. His presentation is titled: “The Dangers of Medical..” something something against GAC. His 3rd slide says “Where do I find the gender identity.” I can tell this is going to be a load of crap.

He’s moved onto surgeries. He read a study when one nipple fell off. Not sure how he thinks THAT is evidence GAC = bad, but #FreeTheNipple. Thankfully his 10 minutes of 💩💩💩 is up, but in his last words he just mentioned Autism. Not this again.

Follow up Q from the Board: “I’ve heard there’s a 50-90% desistance rate.” FACT: the “80% desistance” myth is refuted by ongoing longitudinal studies of gender incongruent youth who socially transitioned in childhood.

A 2022 article in the journal, Pediatrics, found only 2.5% (not 80%) reverted to their birth-assigned gender and identified as cisgender, five years after initial social transition. publications.aap.org/pediatrics/art…

I missed this doctor’s name but the doctor is in support of GAC and a professor at Yale. The doctor said GAC is supported by every major medical association. 👏👏👏👏 Science is back in the room.

Doc just pointed out a dentist co-authored the lynchpin report cited in the June 2nd report by the Agency for Health Care Administration being used to justify a GAC ban. ahca.myflorida.com/letkidsbekids/…

In conclusion the doctor from Yale says “nothing in the June 2nd report” gives reason to deviate from the international best standards. Some clapping.

Found out the dr’s name is Dr. Macknomire (sp?). Follow up Qs, including why there’s increased #s of patients seeking GAC. Dr says we live in a more “forgiving and nurturing environmen,” points to more trailblazers & role models who make kids feel safe to be themselves. 👏👏👏

More FACTS on this. The myth of “rapid-onset gender dysphoria” (ROGD) fails fundamental scientific principles by conflating correlation with causality. It’s not recognized by any major professional association & is based on biased surveys of members of known anti-trans hate orgs.

Furthermore the RODG myth is analogous to the history of left-👋edness in the US which appeared to increaseX4 in the early 20th century bc of growing social acceptance. Left-👋 people in prior gens had simply not been allowed to exist in society & were repressed into invisibility

Follow up Q: Why hasn’t the dr ever recommend bottom surgery for a patient if dr thinks surgery is a good treatment. “Gender-affirming care does not equal surgery.” -Dr. Macklmire (sp?) the entire room breaks out into clapping.

Board member Dr. Zachariah asked if a 17 years old patient who’s been receiving GAC treatment for a few years comes to your office & says they really need top or bottom surgery, would you recommend it. Dr. Macklmire (sp?) would follow WPATH standards & rec them to a surgeon. 👏

Back from a break. One of the Board members just brought up a registry for trans Floridians and the risks for “puberty suppressing therapies,” that the risks outweigh the benefits and claiming there is a lack of scientific evidence of their success. He just proposed a rule. ☠️☠️

Board Member Nicholas W. Romanello, esq. who is listed on the Board website as “Consumer” and from West Palm Beach, formally made a motion for a rule to ban puberty blockers, hormones and surgery to treat gender dysphoria in patients under 18.

So… it wasn’t even a doctor on the Board who proposed this rule. He also suggested patients under 18 currently receiving treatment should be required to go through an “enhanced” informed consent process to be able to continue their GAC treatments.

Dr. Hunter is in support of the rule & wants new IRB approved clinical studies done by Florida Universities. And Sandra Schwimmer, D.O., just formally proposed a registry for people currently receiving GAC in Florida. She thinks registries are “very helpful.” HELPFUL IN WHAT?!???

Dr. Diamond is summing it up, 3 things are on the table rn. The rule to ban GAC, requiring enhanced consent for those currently receiving GAC to continue their care, & studies to determine if their rule is appropriate. Idk what happened to the registry idea but hopefully it’s 🚮.

Public comment has begun. Opening with Zoe, who detransitioned thanks to Jesus. I wonder in what order they are taking comments, and if they will cut off comments early again.

Now another detranistioner 🫣🫣 Who suggested a therapist said without transitioning she was at risk of committing suicide.

8 total now. They’ve come from all over the country, idk how that is this legal. The order they’re calling speakers is clearly rigged. Q: Look into Dr. Laidlaw who seems to have brought all the detransitioners from out of state. Who is finding him? Twitter do your thing.

Dr. Mary Flynn a psychologist and mother of a trans child just spoke followed by her husband. The room clapped at the conclusion of their comments.

Now a speaker who thanked our QANON Surgeon General Dr. Ladapo parroting anti-trans extremist rhetoric straight from hate groups. He’s also spouting TERF feminism. They audience is booing.
