I wonder how many media narratives over the last few years have their origins in bot campaigns.
Here we have Business Insider reporting on this and connecting it to Elon Musk, which led in part to GE pausing ads on the platform. It was all bots.
The media cited research from the The Network Contagion Research Institute @ncri_io and @AlexWGoldenberg, and I think they have some explaining to do.
Did they create the bot campaign themselves, or did they neglect to do adequate research and kick off an entire media firestorm based off a false narrative? Was this just corporate espionage playing off our racial divisions and fears? If so, that’s incredibly evil.
Here’s a little sampling of the media, especially Jeff Bezos’s WaPo, (even LeBron freaked out about it!) parroting this false narrative from some no-name research group and a campaign of 300 Twitter bots.
This is all a prime example of why no one believes the media anymore.
It was GM, not GE that paused ads.

Last week, @philvischer and I had a back-and-forth about abortion, race, and the church, which he reacted to on The Holy Post podcast with @SkyeJethani and @KaitlynSchiess. In it, he lied and distorted what I said to fit a narrative he was trying to tell. Here's the clip... (🧵)
Before I start dismantling his nonsense, I should say that I’m annoyed to even be talking about this. I reject racial categories in the church. The scripture makes it clear that we are one in Christ. There isn’t a “white” church or a “black” church. At least there shouldn’t be.
But to postmodernists like Phil, it’s essential to speak in terms of “white” and “black” because according to his worldview, different “lived experiences” yield different truths that are essential to a full understanding of the gospel. He is the one calling my theology “white”…

A few thoughts on the @philvischer and @William_E_Wolfe and my back-and-forth over abortion and the black church. I want to be as charitable as possible here. I'm not one to go so far as to call Vischer a "wolf" or an "apostate." He has affirmed many times that he's pro-life…
...and I don’t think I am in a position, wretched sinner that I am, to judge another man’s standing before God. I also don’t want to attribute to evil or malice what can often just be attributed to pride or stupidity or the intoxication of bad ideology.. (sorry Phil, no offense.)
I think Phil as a pro-life guy is playing devil’s advocate on this. Maybe he just gets a bit of a perverse kick out of raising questions and watching all the angry “Theobros” flail around indignantly. But I think it’s more likely he’s attempting to…

“I have trauma because the church shunned me,” says Exvangelical who disowned her entire family and best friends because of how they voted in an election
I used to feel a ton of empathy for people who said "I left because I was hurt by the church." I assumed it was because the church was doing something gravely wrong. But after 10 years of stubbornly staying put in a solid Biblical church, I realized something...
Everyone has been hurt by the church, including me. Everyone is guilty of inflicting hurt, too. That's what happens when you're part of a family. That's what happens in marriage. We don't abandon our children, our siblings, our parents, or our spouses because they hurt us.

I remember when the broadway show Hamilton came out and reviewers anticipated that conservatives would be outraged by the casting of black actors to portray the founding fathers. But everyone’s surprise, conservatives LOVED IT. Why? (1/x)
The play didn’t subvert the history. It didn’t vandalize the characters. It celebrated the values of America, and the virtue and genius of the founding fathers. It also represented an embracing of American values by people from all races and ethnicities. (2/x)
There’s a lesson in here for the creators of the Rings of Power. The values of Tolkien (and the founders) are the values that have underpinned the West for 2000 years. These values produced the greatest culture on earth, and lifted billions out of poverty and slavery. (3/x)

The police just arrested the suspect, who is a Sunni Muslim.
Not in time to stop these cynical jerks from fomenting their hate crime and racial tension narratives.
