Already have small core of familiars posting comparable content #OnThere at a steady clip along with all new voices I’ve never met before. I’ve been playing around for a weekend and already my notifications for masto have overtaken my twitter notifs. You have to work at it tho.

I know it’s sad to let go and endure sudden change. So many of us have invested so much of our life #OnHere. The problem for us is that it was always for sale. Even if it’s messy, masto is not for sale. Right now, and for what it’s worth, that’s a feature. Not a bug.

Musk has every incentive to cull 50-75% of staff because they get paid in overpriced stock. He has to somehow carry crushing debt to save this company let alone Tesla. He has to stroke his ego by trolling libs, attracting fascists, and frightening advertisers and normies away.

There are clear warnings from folks who don’t enjoy privilege and their experience of harassment #OnThere. I find that community far more considerate than #OnHere tho. Very different etiquette for posting on masto. A different approach to harm reduction that you need to learn.

There are others who insist we must stay here and fight information warfare in the trenches. Yeah, I do that. But. There are reasonable limits to this proposition when you really sit back and remember the last 30 years of tech platforms coming and going.

This is why I’m bullish on masto and revel in your reflexive skepticism about it.
