1. The reaction to C19 wasn't always or even frequently driven by science or caution. It was often driven by politics and payback. People were hurt physically, financially, & emotionally and when they tried to pushback, they were demonized, attacked, & punished.
2. If it was only tough decisions made w/o enough information, then I’d be open to forgiveness, but it wasn’t. It was a coordinated attack to lock in political policies. Recall Chicago, Minnesota & LA teachers’ unions striking for increased pay and benefits under the guise of C19
3. There was ample evidence available that C19 responses in many areas were unnecessary and oppressive. But, anyone saying it was tagged as not just wrong but evil and dangerous. People lost their social media accounts or worse, their jobs.
4. Shutting down religious services while allowing protests gave the game way. It wasn't about science or caution, it was a power grab. I don't forgive you for that. In fact, we need an investigation and punishment for those overstepping authority
5. Worse of all, there's been no admission of mistakes. They'll do it all again if they see a path to political gains. No lessons were learned, no safeguards put in place, and no apologies made.
There can be no amnesty until there's an admission of guilt and safeguards in place
6. Now read this thread from @alexthechick who I blatantly ripped-off
10. Name one time that the Left has ever offered "amnesty" for missteps from the Right. There were many opportunities in the early days of COVID, when little was known but, they called us "grandma killers" and kept a "daily Trump death counter." The well is dry.
1. Exactly 20 years ago today, I lost my Grandfather.
2. He worked on his father's ice delivery truck in the 20's & 30's delivering ice in the Boston area. He confided to me that he would also "deliver" to several hot housewives on the route from time to time (this was before he was married).
3. He got married but it wasn't working out. So, while separated, he met my Grandmother, who was married to another man and had already had my Mother. But, before things got to salacious, WWII came and the Army Air Corps called.
1. I'm a conservative & believe in core conservative tenets & policies. However, conservative media & political class have done a shitty job selling, explaining, convincing voters why conservatism is better since Reagan.
2. If Republicans have any hope of regaining control, or just enough power to block the accelerating push to the Left by progressives, the GOP tent must grow. If that means pausing part of the conservative agenda, then so be it, it’s better than unfettered progressivism
3. And, if you think the progressives won’t lock in their wins, just look at their policies today!
-Nuke the filibuster
- Add blue states
- Apportion the Senate by population
- HR1/S1
Every one of those is designed to block conservatives, forever.
