🧵Wisconsin is evenly split between Ds and Rs—but the GOP has so gerrymandered our state legislative districts that the GOP is just ONE SEAT away from a state Senate supermajority that could override vetoes. Electing Jessica Katzenmeyer to SD5 is critical. secure.actblue.com/donate/jessica…
Under the previous district maps, Senate District 5 was represented by Republican Rep. Dale Kooyenga—who fought off a tough challenger in 2018 by just 2,245 votes. But when the lines moved, he retired. Now it’s an open seat, and perhaps the best pickup target in Wisconsin. Image
Wisconsin’s 5th state Senate District is a suburban Milwaukee district—and Milwaukee suburbs have been getting less and less red ever since Trump came down the escalator and announced his run for president. Katzenmeyer could win this once-red district.
In fact, the 5th state Senate district is arguably the district offering the biggest opportunity to block a Republican supermajority in the Wisconsin state Senate.

Jessica has a long, proud #union background. She was part of @TeamstersLU344 and served as Secretary for their Political and Legislative Committee. #1u

She turned her passion into action by joining the Emerge program and gained the skills she needed to run for office.
Jessica’s been a trailblazer throughout this race. She’s the first openly transgender candidate in this seat’s history & only the second ever in WI. She’s shared her personal stories on the campaign trail—from her own personal ACA experience to fighting for the LGBTQ+ community. ImageImage
Meanwhile, her Republican opponent, Rob Hutton served in the Assembly from 2013-2021. His signature focus: attacks on the rights of working people. He led the charge on the so-called right-to-work law that crushed unions all over Wisconsin.
rob-hutton.com/robs-story
Not content to attack basic labor rights, Hutton also went after Wisconsin’s prevailing wage laws. The result? Declining wages for construction workers—without a decrease in costs for construction projects. If it helps working people, Hutton’s against it. wpr.org/study-repeal-w…
We’ve got just one shot this November to send @jessicaforwis to the State Senate. If we do that, we secure our democracy, score a win for working people, and secure a better Wisconsin.

I've been on the road with WI Governor Tony Evers and Attorney General Josh Kaul for the last couple of days, and Josh has been telling a story at campaign stops that is keeping me up tonight—about what our state looks like now, post-Roe. It's something an OB-GYN told him. 1/
Josh says the OB-GYN told him that she's seeing parents come in for visits about planned pregnancies—visits that, previously, were among the greatest joys in her work. The 20-week ultrasounds, where you count fingers and toes. If you're a parent, you remember those visits. I do.
Some parents are coming in to those visits terrified. Because of what it might mean if there's a complication that they didn't expect. Because they have kids at home already. Because there's no exception in Wisconsin's abortion ban, passed in 1849, for the health of the parent.

🧵If Republicans win ONE Wisconsin state Senate seat, they’ll get a supermajority in that chamber. On Wisconsin’s northern rim, in the open 25th Senate District, electing Kelly Westlund is absolutely essential. Chip in and read on!
secure.actblue.com/donate/kelly-w…
Folks who know just a little about Wisconsin politics often think of Northern Wisconsin as red. But the northern rim’s been blue—for a long time. Retiring Sen. Janet Bewley won by just 2.2% in 2018. Under new maps, the district is even tougher. So this race is intense.
Kelly Westlund is exactly who we need to elect to represent this Senate district—and her opponent, Romaine Quinn, is exactly who northern Wisconsin *doesn’t* need to send to Madison.

🧵If Republicans add ONE state Senate seat in Wisconsin, they’ll get a supermajority. But if Kristin Alfheim flips the 19th State Senate District blue, the GOP won’t have a chance. @Alfheimforwisc is a dynamo and fearless advocate—chip in to elect her!

Kris grew up on a small Wisconsin beef farm and learned the value of hard work from her parents. In her work, she helps people plan for retirement, and mentors and supports women in the financial services industry—while serving on the Appleton City Council and nonprofit boards.
Kris—who married her now-wife just this year, mid-campaign!—was endorsed by the Victory Fund, and would become the first out person to represent the 19th Senate District.

8 DAYS LEFT AND MIDNIGHT DEADLINE: What we do for these last 8 days in Wisconsin could doom democracy in the tipping-point state—or rebuild it, far beyond what seems possible.

Our elections are tied. Chip in & read on so we can fight for every last vote: secure.actblue.com/donate/octeom2…
In this moment, a tiny change in votes in Wisconsin could start a domino effect that could shape the future of American history. For worse, or better.
Right now, we’re not only at the edge of a cliff—but we’re also at the start of two different paths away from that cliff’s edge, leading up to the mountaintop. To an era of genuine, functional democracy and freedom.

This Halloween, watch out for something truly terrifying:
If suits aren’t your thing, here’s another option for your Wisconsin Halloween:
Unclear whether Tim Michels intends to host a Halloween party at his $17 million Connecticut mansion, his $8.7 million Manhattan penthouse, or the Brant Beach Yacht Club in New Jersey. So many options!

🧵 No one works harder to get elected than Don Vruwink.

We have to send @RepDonVruwink back in November to continue working for rural Wisconsin. Now, running in the newly-redrawn 33rd District, we need to give Rep Vruwink our full support: secure.actblue.com/donate/don-vru…
Don Vruwink has represented Wisconsin’s 43rd Assembly District since 2017.

But this April, the GOP-run Wisconsin state Supreme Court chose wildly gerrymandered legislative maps drawn to favor Republicans—and suddenly, Don lived in the 33rd. He didn’t move. The lines did. Image
The 33rd Assembly District has been represented by Republicans since 1982—under the maps drawn after the 1980 census, the 1990 census, the 2000 census, and the 2010 census. But under the new maps, it’s now a toss-up. And the candidate to flip it blue is Rep Don Vruwink.
