You get access to early launches and some of the best UPI features on the official @UPI_NPCI app

PS - Many 3rd party UPI apps play with and monetise your data including personal info

You’ll get an option/banner to Enable UPI Lite

It simply works like a prepaid wallet

• Enter the Load Amount
• Select Desired Bank Account
• Enter the UPI PIN

Now, simply Scan a QR code

I have three payments options here

a) Pay with Bank Account
b) Pay with Credit Card
c) Pay with UPI Lite Balance

You can Spot the small UPI Lite icon in the SBI Option

UPI Lite is currently supported on 6 Banks that includes

•Canara Bank,
•HDFC Bank,
•Indian Bank,
•Kotak Mahindra Bank,
•Punjab National Bank,
•State Bank of India,
•Union Bank of India,
•Utkarsh Small Finance Bank

Please Note that UPI Lite is a digital non-interest bearing wallet, It’s an added complimentary technology over the standard UPI functionality

This means you have to add money to your UPI Lite Wallet first, and then transact without the use of Internet and UPI PIN.

But in order to set up UPI Lite, you will need both Internet connection as well as the UPI PIN of your preferred bank account.

Note - The upper limit will be maximum ₹200 per transaction

This feature would be extremely helpful in remote and areas with poor internet connectivity. 

It’ll boost cashless payments as it enhances the convenience of small value payments for the common consumer.

Best part is that your Passbook and Bank Statement won’t be cluttered as there will be only 1 Debit Entry when you’ll load the money

Unlike current scenario where you may have hundreds of messy transactions in your bank statement every month.
