In an amazing breakout 'Making good trouble - shifting the dial on mental health' chaired by @Marsha_MHAdvMcr at #KFAnnual2022 - talking labels, young carers, supporting first gen migrants and more.
A panel full of people with lived and living experiences of mental health, making change and supporting others to access support - particularly addressing the intersections between racism and mental health #KFAnnual2022
Really important (but still under-recognised) point from one panellist - just because you're from the same group, doesn't mean you have the same experience. Need to not make assumptions and always listen to individuals #KFAnnual2022
Data is useful - but we've had data on this for decades - @Kadra_A_ highlighting the need for doing things differently and not being afraid to take risks - moving beyond the medical model of health #KFAnnual2022
Culturally appropriate services need to start by being accessible to all - language, immigration status, culturally competent staff that are aware of and respect other people from other cultures - important points from the panel #KFAnnual2022
"British Values" aren't universal among people in Britain. Important that this is recognised more widely in statutory services #KFAnnual2022
"Take your lanyard off and go in as a human." Wise words from the Making good trouble panel at #KFAnnual2022

The only downside of chairing/taking part in your own panel is that you can’t live tweet it, but I want to share some reflections for people who couldn't make it. #KFAnnual2022
First @FaziletHadi opened the discussion by setting out the challenges facing disabled people at present, but also the importance of a #SocialModel approach, #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs and the principles of choice and control.
I then got to share the findings of the work @DisRightsUK and @TheKingsFund published this summer about the importance of involving disabled people in health and care service design - you can find it here (it's short and sweet!):
