fwiw im always skeptical that there's a plan. too much of everything is absolute bullshit and chaos for there to really be a plan, whether its dems in iraq in 2003, everything trump did, or musk now. sometimes this pov is wrong but i feel like theres rarely a real plan.
i just dont feel everyone is working from sun tzu so much as trying to survive the next 24 hours.
sometimes theres a plan, like stacking scotus or invading iraq, but even then, the steps are still usually a mess and can get blown up along the way

its weird a lot of the time how we try to graft modern tech on top of an absurd antiquated system. like paying for things. in 2022 we're still ascribing some kind of magical power to your signature, like its still 1620 and youre receiving deliveries of goods
"certainly you've already paid for this item electronically and the money has been transferred from your bank, but please affix this mystical signature at the bottom so the spell doesn't break"
i recently had something notarized and im like "right, yes, i went to the magical third party and he saw me sign the thing and then he used his wizard stamp on it so everything is official and legal now"

Democratic leaders and consultants think if you fiddle with some knobs at the edges of politics you win and ignore mass motivation of voters especially infrequent voters
It’s insane for the party that twice elected BARACK OBAMA to see the world this way
This mindset probably predates it but you can see a lot of this stemming from Mark Penn’s book Microtrends which said this kind of knob fiddling could work. Then he tried it out running Clinton’s campaign and got swamped by a mass movement candidate:

why republicans do the things they do:
during the great depression, before social security, the prospect for old people with nothing to live on was "get fucked," and this is the republican ideal of how life should be in america. if you're poor, but especially if you're a minority and poor? "get fucked."
