1. This ecosystem is _small_, compared to the EVM, and IMO relative to the combined interchain MC. I guess this is something I already knew but still shocking when diving in further
Small ecosystems are good and bad - lots to be built but undoubtedly a lot of chewing glass
If you like familiar faces, #Cosmos is for you. You’ll very quickly start to recognize GitHub and Twitter PFPs everywhere
2. @CosmWasm and general SDK tooling is simultaneously immature and mature.
Local mainnet forks, transaction simulation, gas relayers - forget about it, too early
Rust static analysis, Go best practices, useful libraries for these languages - no shortage of these
Application code being written in Rust and Go is _so_ nice. A huge upgrade from Solidity and the lack of foot guns will pave the way for more secure codebases
But you need to be comfortable diving into source code. There’s no tutorials, or any good ones, just yet
4. The epic battle of async vs. sync composability is still yet to play out between Ethereum and Cosmos, but I’m convinced that an async world is the way forward.
Personally very excited to start playing with Interchain Accounts and Queries to see how they work in practice
Adding onto that previous point, finding out how to pass messages between contracts is 😬 but once working 👌
5. There’s a shitload of drama 😅
@gadikian is usually right, if not a bit brash. The other drama doesn’t even seem worth mentioning
With all that said, I’m very much looking forward to continuing to build in this ecosystem 👷♂️🛠️
If you’re also a builder looking to also get started, consider reaching out to me at subtract.fi!
I’m looking to put together a small developer collective that focuses on and builds interesting things throughout the #interchain
