Here is how to monetize twitter (as a subscription business).
Twitter has many half-finished / standalone features and it's time to bring them together @elonmusk@Jason
/start 🧵
1. Tweetdeck (most obvious)
Make it 'the' platform for consumption and creation.
Consumption: Pro users experience ad-free. as simple as that.
Creation: Borrow ideas from typefully and others who are doing a great job focusing on creators.
I said, borrow - not 'kill them'.
Twitter is known for its anti-developer strategy. Don't amplify it pls.
Don't go after these platforms - just play fair and grow the ecosystem.
2. Twitter communities.
My guess: there are diff teams working on these and they don't even talk to each other.
Fire one of these teams and let the competent ones do the following:
- merge spaces, circles, revue and every other community feature.
. @sriramk knows the value of audio communities from his #clubhouse days. But audio spaces, circles, newsletters etc. do not matter as a standalone feature (from $ perspective).
Bring them together and offer it to brands (on $ubs) who want to run such communities.
3. Twitter blue will soon lose its significance.
It's the Yahoo moment of Twitter - stuck between media and tech.
Elon anyways wants to do it - so all the best! Here is what I'd recommend (as an ex-Yahoo 😄)
Offer twitter blue to pro subscribers of tweetdeck + communities as well.
That is, make Blue a universal status symbol (that you are supporting twitter) and upsell features like communities to get more out of current customer base.

So I moved to Android few weeks back to experience the new new Bharat apps and here is what I am observing : many founders are building (like in 2015) product for VCs - vernacular, AI, WhatsApp friendly, audio etc. That is all the key buzzwords. But..
But..most of these are more of a "let me stuff every damn shit" and raise funding. Notes to these founders: maybe try to solve for the end user. VCs move from theme to theme, party to party. And unless you have anything meaningful, scaling up content is meaningless. Have..
Have skin. And a game.
Right now, most of these startups are famous for their funding rounds and not for the product/user pulse. The market, I tell you gives no fuck to your fund cycle. Great products do win and Bharat market will be no exception.
