GOMBAK: Supporters of several candidates have gathered at SMK Sungai Pusu for nomination day.

Those seeking nominations are: Azmin Ali (PN), Amirudin Shari (PH), Megat Zulkarnain (BN), Zulkifli Ahmad (Bebas), Aziz Jamaluddin (Pejuang), Azwan Ali. ImageImageImageImage
Independent candidate Zulkifli Ahmad is hoping to hold a debate with other candidates contesting the Gombak seat, especially PN's Azmin Ali.

He told BFM News, among the issues he plans to focus on is improving public transport facilities in the district.

The loudest cheers from supporters were for reserved for Azmin and Amirudin.

He believes that PH has a good chance of winning, adding that he is not new to Gombak.

The senior police officer who rammed into 17-year-old Zaharif Affendi Zamrie with his car last year, was travelling at 90.9kph at the time of the collision.

The Ipoh High Court was told that data from the vehicle’s ABS and stability control systems showed the brake pedal was not pressed, with the accelerator at maximum during the incident.

“The steering angle was at -2.5 degrees. The accelerator was at a maximum, causing the brake assist to not operate due to the acceleration.

“If the driver in this case suddenly applied the brakes, the ABS data would have been recorded,” a Perodua technical assistant said.

He added that the pre-collision brake alerts the driver of a potential vehicle or pedestrian in front, while brake assist activates if a collision is imminent.

However, brake assist is disabled if the driver overrides the system by swerving, braking, or accelerating.

A new analysis of acne creams and cleansers found that dozens of products, including popular brands like Proactiv and Clearasil, contain chemical linked to cancer.

Researchers tested over 100 benzoyl peroxide products and found ⅓ were contaminated with high levels of benzene.

The analysis found Proactiv contained 18 times the amount of benzene allowed in US drugs, while a CVS brand face wash had 13 times the US FDA's safety limit.

The findings support an earlier controversial study, increasing pressure on the FDA to address the products' safety.

“The results presented here suggest that a substantial portion of the BPO acne treatment market currently contains unacceptably high levels of benzene in products sitting on the shelf,” the study by Valisure wrote.

The issue was initially uncovered in another earlier analysis, prompting the lab to file a petition with the FDA to recall those it had found with high levels of benzene.

"These were used for the personal benefit of the co-conspirators and their associates."

MRT Corp says it it will be undertaking a three-month public inspection exercise for the Circle Line (MRT3) project starting from September 2 to December 2.

This is for the public to review and provide feedback on the proposed alignment, site and context plans.

As part of the public inspection exercise, MRT Corp has set up 35 designated locations throughout the Klang Valley.

These include eight MRT info kiosks and 27 MRT info trucks stationed at key sites.

🚨TW: Murder

A 24-year-old man has been brutally murdered at Jasin Hospital, Melaka.

Police say the victim was first attacked by a group of masked men armed with machetes at a barber shop in Taman Rim Baru.

"The injured victim managed to contact his brother to drive him to the hospital to seek medical attention.

"Upon arriving at the hospital, the assailants returned and again started to attack him mercilessly and smashed the windscreen of the car," say Jasin police.

The victim passed away at 10.15pm on the same day (August 25).

Seoul authorities say women's accessories sold by online retailers Shein, Temu, & AliExpress contained toxic substances, with some levels hundreds of times above acceptable limits.

Out of 144 products tested from the companies, multiple items failed to meet legal standards.

Shein shoes were found to have phthalate levels far exceeding legal limits, with one pair 229 times over.

“Phthalate-based plasticisers can reduce sperm count, cause infertility and premature birth,” says Seoul’s environmental health team.
