1/ Authorities in Sterlitamak, Bashkortostan faked a well-publicised video in which mobilised Russian soldiers thanked the mayor of the city for providing them with equipment and supplies, according to a local Telegram channel. Translation ⬇️
2/ Komsomolskaya Pravda's Ufa bureau reported on 2 November that "those mobilized to participate in the Special Military Operation thanked the inhabitants of Sterlitamak and the mayor of the city."
3/ "It is reported that the men are members of a reconnaissance group, which is now undergoing combat training. The day before, Rustem Gazizov, head of the Sterlitamak administration, visited the men and brought them all the necessary things and messages from caring residents."
4/ In a short video, the men say: "We would like to express our gratitude to the administration, residents and the mayor of Sterlitamak for their assistance. Thank you! We remember you and know that you are waiting for us! Victory will be ours!"
5/ It's likely that this was intended to counter the many videos of mobiks complaining that they have not been given any equipmenyt or training. But the local "Pulse Ufa" Telegram channel says it was all faked, according to an eyewitness.
6/ "Before Gazizov's arrival, the commander gathered everyone together and said that someone important would be arriving and a video would have to be shot.
7/ At first there were two people to choose from, but then the commander himself chose who he wanted, but that was not the point.

For the video we brought five sets of winter uniforms, five body armours, five shoulder belt systems and that was it.
8/ We were given a piece of paper with a text and told that it was not necessary to learn it, we could just read it. When we asked the commander when they would get the uniform and all the equipment, he just smiled, nodded and left. That's how it really was." /end

1/ The Governor of Primorsky Krai, Oleg Kozhemyako, has published a video denying recent reports that the Russian 155th Marine Brigade suffered huge casualties (see letter below). Video and translation follows ⬇️
2/
On his official Telegram channel, Kozhemyako says:

"We have contacted the commanders of our marines on the front line. These are guys who have been in combat since the beginning of the operation. We trust them.
3/ From them the information about the battles for Pavlivka is as follows:

"The offensive is tough, there are casualties, but far from it."

These are not the words of a staff officer, but of a combat commander.

1/ The independent Russian investigative newspaper The Insider appears to have found the location of a secret Russian basement-prison for refusenik soldiers, the existence of which was earlier reported by ASTRA (see below). Translated extracts follow: ⬇️
2/ According to The Insider, the basement-prison is located in the village of Zavitne Bazhannya, Donetsk oblast. Wives and mothers of refuseniks say that 21 men are being held there, used as labourers and threatened periodically with being sent to the front lines or being shot. Image
3/ The wife of one man, Elena Kashina, said that her husband had no military experience and the men were given minimal training before deployment. "When they were at the firing range, they were given one day to shoot an automatic rifle.

1/ Here's a remarkable thing to spot on Russia's front line in Ukraine: a soldier showing off a 152mm D1 howitzer M1943, which would have been produced no later than 1949 (hence at least 73 years old).
2/ It's likely that this is a Luhansk People's Republic soldier. There were reports in mid-October that Russia had given the LPR some of these ancient weapons (see below). This is the first video I've seen of them apparently in use.
3/ More info below on the D1 howitzer:

1/ The Russian news outlet Verstka reported yesterday that hundreds of mobilised Russian soldiers have died on the front line. TV Rain has independently corroborated it, reporting that officers told the men "You are meat, that's why you were brought here." Translation follows. ⬇️
2/ TV Rain spoke to the relatives of two other fighters who survived and tried to reconstruct a picture of the fighting.
3/ Aleksandr, from the Voronezh region, was mobilised on 16 October. Two weeks later, on 31 October, he was taken to a unit in the town of Valuyki in the Belgorod region, says his sister Yulia, who asked not to give her last name.

1/ Following yesterday's report about Russian commanders illegally detaining mobilised Russians, who were stripped naked and threatened with a mass execution (thread below), the news website ASTRA reports on more basement-prisons in occupied areas. ⬇️
2/ ASTRA quotes from one mobilised man's written refusal to participate in the war in Ukraine. The man, from Primorsky Krai in the Russian Far East, is right now being held in a basement in the Donetsk region, according to his wife.
3/ “I cannot kill a person for reasons of conscience. It doesn't fit in my head, how can I kill? I am a civilian who works at an enterprise and feeds his family, takes care of his parents and takes care of his paralyzed grandmother."

1/ Another group of mobilised Russian soldiers has reportedly been starved of food and water and threatened with prosecution, torture and death by their commanders to force them to go back to the front line, according to independent Russian media outlet Agency News. Thread ⬇️
2/ This appears to be a continuation of a story covered earlier by TV Rain (see thread below). The men are survivors of the 6th and 7th companies of the 423rd Guards Yampolsky Motor Rifle Regiment, which suffered heavy casualties under Ukrainian fire.
3/ Agency News reports:

"Nine out of 27 mobilized people who refused to fight near Svatove (Luhansk region) returned to the front line, the wives of three men told the Agency. This was preceded by several days of threats.
