Cholesterol is fat that is found in our blood. Sometimes it’s called lipids. When we hear this word, we think of it building up in our arteries and contributing to long-term health problems, but cholesterol isn’t just a bad guy.
2.Healthy levels of cholesterol are vital for our cells to function and to make vitamin D and some hormones.
There are two main types – HDL or high-density lipoprotein (good cholesterol) and LDL or low-density lipoprotein (bad cholesterol).
3.If the levels of your bad cholesterol become too high and the good cholesterol too low, you are at increased risk of developing cardiovascular complications (also known as CVD or heart disease).
4.There are also triglycerides (a combination of three fatty acids combined with glycerol, a form of glucose). These can have bad effects on your health if levels are high, too.
For many people, eating a healthy, balanced diet and being physically active is enough to keep.......
5.......cholesterol levels healthy. But if your bad cholesterol is high, most people need medication to lower it. And for people with diabetes, it is important that you have your levels checked every year.
6. Many people who have Type 1 diabetes should be prescribed statin treatment for the primary prevention of heart disease. This means you may not have high cholesterol levels, but statins help to keep them in a healthy range and reduce the risk of heart disease.
7.Those people with type 1 diabetes who should be offered statins, regardless of their cholesterol levels, include:
a)People older than 40 years.
b)Those who have had diabetes for more than 10 years.
c)Those with established kidney damage or other CVD risk factors.
8.For primary prevention of CVD, people with type 2 diabetes who have a 10% or greater 10-year risk of developing CVD should be offered statins.
If you have high cholesterol levels, you should have a blood test to measure total cholesterol.......
9.......HDL cholesterol and non-HDL cholesterol three months after starting statin treatment, with an aim of 40% reduction in non-HDL cholesterol.
Ask your healthcare team what your individual targets are for your cholesterol levels.
1.While fasting is an important spiritual aspect of many religions it can lead to health problems for people with diabetes. One of the longest periods of fasting is the Islamic month of Ramadan during which guidance for people with Diabetes is key.
2. If you treat your diabetes with certain medications such as insulin, there is danger of the blood sugar levels after fasting becoming too low. This can lead to a hypoglycaemia, or having your blood sugar levels too high which can lead to Diabetic Ketoacidosis.....
3... (DKA), which would require hospital treatment. The symptoms of DKA include feeling very thirsty and passing a lot of urine.
If one is fasting & doesn't take in fluids to reduce their thirst, this will accelerate dehydration and they will require urgent admission to hospital.
Carrying extra weight around your WAIST means fat can build up around organs, like your liver and pancreas. This can cause something called insulin resistance as the insulin can’t get through the fat.
2. This means the insulin your body produces doesn’t work properly, and that increases your chance of having high blood glucose (sugar).
You should make sure your overall weight and body mass index (BMI) are healthy, but even if they are,....
3...you may still be at risk of type 2 Diabetes if you have a large waist measurement.
Measuring your waist takes less than a minute and all you need is a tape measure. You can always ask a friend or family member to help you as well if you can’t do it on your own.....
1.Dear @edmnangagwa@nelsonchamisa and all those who are contesting for Zimbabwean Presidency in 2023.
I am writing to you to lay bare my personal expectations of a Presidential candidate pre and post elections,l write as a concerned citizen based on observations l have made.

3.To achieve a free and fair election it has to be peaceful, transparent and guided by the laws of Zimbabwe some of which require all political players to come together and ensure that the rule of law is respected, all opposition players come together and demand

First it should be understood that Temba did no assign me to deal with the issue here...
2...l felt compelled to intervene when l thought the issue between @mutami_susan and @TembaMliswa was not for public consumption and had negative implications on all involved parties, being close to Temba it was the best thing l could do for him.
3..@mutami_susan was angry when l started talking to her because she indicated how disappointed she had been by @TembaMliswa l assured her l could talk to Temba and l did that,l told Temba l was talking to Susan with the hope that they could at least have a talking relationship.
1.Everyone who is bitter with @ZECzim needs to really understand what the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission is all about.
ZEC is an electoral body that was created through an act of parliament in 2004.Before that elections were run by what was called the Electoral Supervisory....
2.Commission which was basically run by the Military,if you hear the names of the individuals who Chaired ESC you can easily tell that it was a full military operation.Past Chairpersons include the late General Edzayi Chimonyo,Lt Gen Douglas Nyikayaramba,Air Commodore K Zimondi..
3...So as you can see these were Generals in charge of Zimbabwe's elections until 2004 when there was that act of parliament that gave birth to @ZECzim the lady yo know as Joyce Kazembe is one of the longest serving members in Zimbabwe's electoral processes,Utoile Silaigwana too.
