How will Apple's NFT guidelines affect mobile crypto adoption??

In this @naavik_co metacast episode, host @MariaStumble is joined by @aaron_bush_ & @_AnilDG to discuss Apple's new NFT guidelines, how @Microsoft & @netflix are prioritizing gaming, & more.

Read our notes below 👇
Xbox's Mobile Storefront Endgame

•Scale Xbox store to a new mobile platform & shift the mobile consumers away from Google Play Store and Apple Store. 1/
@aaron_bush_

•This is a good way for Microsoft to raise the heat on Apple & try to push the entire ecosystem in a different direction. 2/
@_AnilDG

•By creating its own Storefront Microsoft can compete with Apple by offering devs better partnership agreements w/ lower royalties, better revenues, more downloads, etc. 3/
Apple’s NFTs Guideline

•According to new Apple NFTs guidelines, apps can sell NFTs using the App Store’s in-app purchase system.

•However, they can’t “direct customers to purchasing mechanisms other than in-app purchase”. 4/
•Problem with this system is that NFTs couldn’t be traded outside of the app itself thus harming NFT integration and limiting the accessibility of the crypto ecosystem. 5/
@_AnilDG

•Apple simply wants their 30% fees on NFT sales, but it will destroy lots of peoples’ business models.

•One day Apple will probably develop its own intermediary system to trade NFTs or even their own cryptocurrency to purchase NFTs or in-app goods with. 6/
@MariaStumble

•With dynamic prices of NFTs App Store couldn’t simply pin the price to a specific value as it does right now. 7/
@aaron_bush_

•Apple doesn’t really care about NFTs, it only cares about the control.

• If NFTs are purchased outside of the Apple ecosystem the control (and fees as well) are lost.

•Regulators should come after Apple in the future. 8/
Netflix Cloud Gaming

•Netflix is considering cloud gaming as a value add to the Netflix subscription, the hope is over time it becomes a natural way to play games. 9/
•Currently Netflix has 14 games in development in its own studios and has 35 games on the service, including games on original IP and licensed IP. 10/
@aaron_bush_

•Natural move for Netflix to expand into cloud gaming because it's quite good at cloud services, it’s now interesting to see how they reduce the friction for the users w/ controllers, UX, UI, etc. 11/
•It would be a smart move from Microsoft to acquire Netflix to bundle up both video and gaming subscriptions together plus share IP across different production teams. 12/
•This could lead to a creation of one of the most interesting entertainment subscription businesses on the market. 13/
