The Ọwọrọ ethnic nationality represents a group of people around the Niger-Benue confluence speaking a Yoruba dialect called Oworo. They are generally classified as part of Northeast Yoruba (NEY) of the Yoruba people.
Oworo people speak a dialect of Yoruba, linguistically similar to other Okun dialects. Virtually all Oworos can fluently communicate in Yoruba. They can as well converse to a great extent with speakers of other Okun dialects since the languages are mutually intelligible.
In addition to speaking Oworo, those in the eastern axis can also speak Igbira Igu (Egbura)

It was from Anti Wura, Buroda Alani’s third wife, that I first heard how Ayinla Omowura died. Buroda Alani was our extended family uncle. And he had a television set. He was one of the three people privileged to own television set in the whole of Itakogun, Ile-Ife in the
late 70s/early 80s. Baba Deyeba – father of Chief Alex Duduyemi, the famous Aro of Ife; and Baba Lawal – father of my aburo, now a brilliant lawyer, Ibrahim Lawal, were the other two.
Buroda Alani’s house was thus a sort of mecca for all the neighbourhood children.

Under King Ghezo, the Dahomey Empire grew strong and ruthless from their manner of slave raiding and attacking under neighbouring states. Abeokuta was a constant victim of this harassment; four times they invaded Abeokuta but only the last two Invasions were
deadly and were recorded in history.
The Invasion of Abeokuta in 1851 (the same year Lagos was bombarded by the British Naval forces) brought to light the secret weapon of the Dahomey Nation. It’s deadly and ruthless Amazons!
The history of Basorun Ogunmola is quite a fascinating one as his life and time was riddled with lots of interesting stories ranging from being an oracle diviner at age 10 and later to a warlord. He was one of the foremost warriors, the Yoruba race ever produced. Despite his
smallish stature, he was a terror to many kingdoms during his lifetime. He did not only fight and win several wars, but also went ahead to become a ruler in Ibadan.
Ogunmola was a fearful, fearless, hardworking, daring, dedicated, resourceful, creative, crafty and a just leader
