@Marcel4Congress@CDouglasLove3@nasescobar316@ozprattboxing The debate question was chosen by the organizer @ozprattboxing. I believe it sets up a false binary. But I agreed to the question because at the heart of it lies the xenophobia that lies at the heart of the question and the distraction to serious inequalities. What do I mean?
@Marcel4Congress@CDouglasLove3@nasescobar316@ozprattboxing Over the past week, I have received more hate than I have ever gotten in my 53 years in America as an immigrant, most via @tariqnasheed's Foundational Black Americans #FBA disciples, including this one, mocking my name + people from India who "wipes their butts with their hands."
I was last called "ASSra" in mockery by a boy named Johnny Walker (yes) when I moved to WV at 10. Why am I doing this debate? I want to fix injustice. I will use the tale of two counties so study this data. Jasper County, SC, home @Marcel4Congress and my home Fairfax County VA.
See the differences in data.
Average SAT score960 vs 1,280
Average ACT score18 vs 29
Proficient in reading 27% vs 81%
Proficient in math 23% vs 85%
100% free/ reduced lunch 100% vs 27%
Median household income$35,962 vs $127,866
What explains the gaps? Dirty immigrants?
Here are the politicians:
Lawmaker
Rep. James Clyburn (D), South Carolina 6th District Rep. Gerry Connolly (D), Virginia 11th District
Born in India, I was on an emotional roller coaster today in the Supreme Court, listening to 3 justices + 4 lawyers try to gaslight America on the reality of anti-Asian racism. Fortunately, 4 justices argued fiercely. My bet: 6-2, Harvard loses. 6-3 UNC loses. America wins 💯 🇺🇸
Here are some portraits of my friends, many of whom have overcome cultural fears over challenging authority to speak truth to power and fight for social justice. They inspire me! Meet @ycinnewyork, NYC mama bear! Marching 10/30 for justice!
In 1979, Khomeini seized power by using cassette tapes to foment a revolution with fiery sermons. In 2022, Iran’s TikTok generation defeat the tyranny of the mullahs by winning the gif wars.
🧶with gifs that show the revolution has penetrated into mainstream consciousness.
This is @AlinejadMasih. The government of Iran wants to kill her but she is immortalized here in just one example of her beautiful, righteous rage.
The government of Iran would like to erase the memory of #Mahsa_Amini but she too is immortalized in death as a symbol of innocence extinguished, her image carried now by others who are her voice on earth.
🖤 @khamenei_ir security forces murdered #AsraPanahi when she + other girls at a high school in Ardabil refused to join a pro-regime rally and instead chanted: “Woman, Life, Freedom.” She had my name. In her honor, I change my profile to her picture so you will know her name❣️
🔥 As an @IWN parent activist and cofounder of @TheMuslimReform, I speak with @HarryJ4Justice on a #shadowboard as we watch a LIVESTREAM of the Dearborn school board meeting where the intersectionality of wokeism IMPLODES. Watch here on YouTube ⬇️
Proud of these mostly immigrant, mostly Muslim parents in Dearborn, who refuse to be shamed in their defense of children. They are clear that they love ALL children, including of course LGBtQ kids. They just don’t want porn in schools. “Shame on you!” a speaker just said.
A #Dearborn community member speaks in Arabic. Where is the culturally responsive school district providing a translator? No where. He tells the two Arabic-speaking school board members to translate for the others.
More fake feminists: Reza Aslan was on MSNBC tonight with Mehdi Hasan, both preening like they’re champions for women in Iran. For years, they’ve both made excuses for anti-women Islamists, like in Iran. In 2008, I debated Aslan on Islamic radicalism. Watch his lame deflection 🤦🏻♀️
Our debate: “Islam is dominated by radicals.”
For the motion: Paul Marshall, Daveed Gartenstein-Ross, me
Against: Richard Bulliet, Reza Aslan, Edina Lekovic.
My side won. For these 15 years since, Reza + his side have used “Islamophobia” to silence us. npr.org/2008/04/23/898…
Here is Reza Aslan’s genuflection for Islamist radicals going back to 2008. He dismissed our arguments regarding radicalization in our Muslim communities as “anecdotes.” Indeed, #mahsaami̇ni̇ would be one of those “anecdotes.”
📍MUST READ. @Reuters@specialreports publishes serious critique of the “gender-affirming” industry. Importantly, Reuters is led by Regina Chua, a fmr WSJ colleague who transitioned from male to female and never left old-school journalism. h/t @iandprior reuters.com/investigates/s…
📍Everyone agrees we MUST extend love to ALL children but here is the “nut graf,” as we call it in journalism, by @Reuters@specialreports: “strong evidence of the efficacy” of “gender-affirming” medical interventions “remains scant.” This is such an important article.
