One thing that struck me was that VCSO Deputy Ron Helus proposed to his wife in the very building in which he died, nearly 31 years to the day from their 1st date. At that time it was Charley Brown's restaurant. #BorderlineStrong ktla.com/news/local-new…
But what gets me every Christmas is thinking of my friend Chanda. Her kids' babysitter, Noel Sparks, was killed that night, just hours after participating in Wed night church. Chanda had to tell her daughters that Noel wasn't coming back to church, that she was with Jesus...
...and after the funerals, as the congregation again turned to preparing for the Christmas program, they realized they needed someone to sing Noel's part and asked Chanda. Oh, how she struggle - dealing w/grief while seeking honor Noel's life and the promise of eternal life.
Even four years later, the thought of turning this political makes me nauseous. Love your people. Do good. Help others heal. And push for our society to find effective ways to identify and treat mental illness.
