NEW: @Dave_Eby will shuffle cabinet and swear in a new group of ministers Dec. 7.
News comes as Eby announces the Nov. 18 swearing for himself will occur at the Musqueam Community Centre in Vancouver, after Victoria's Gov House had a scheduling conflict with a gala fundraiser.
@Dave_Eby Let the cabinet speculation begin!
@Dave_Eby The Eby swearing-in in Vancouver also signals a return of BCgov's power centre to Vancouver, where Eby lives and away from Victoria-area of John Horgan.
Expect much of gov business to be done out of Vancouver going forward.
@Dave_Eby This gives me the opportunity to resurrect one of my crazier ideas:
BC gov should buy Helijet and run it, thereby saving a boatload of $$ on all the flights it has for executives to go back and forth to Vancouver under Eby.
But keep the awesome @NespressoCA machines in the lobby.
@Dave_Eby @NespressoCA Speaking of which, hey @NespressoCA -- how does a guy get one of these cool commercial sized machines?
You send me one, and I'll pour free coffees for everyone in the #bcleg who wants one, throughout the day!! Image

.@VancouverPD tomorrow will release a report it commissioned into spending on city's social safety net - a summary of which leaked this week.
I've read both now, and let me summarize them for you: Misleading fiction.
My latest @TheOrcaBC @Glacier_Media
biv.com/article/2022/1…
This is one of the pages in the VPD summary of the report. I assume VPD will not release this summary tomorrow because it’s embarrassingly bad, and instead focus on the other 81 page report. Image
Here’s the $5b figure in the executive summary of the actual report, the admission $2b of that is direct federal transfers and then the subsequent breakdown showing what those transfers are later in the report. ImageImage

I know what you are thinking, I'm going to sit at my computer all night and tweet out the results of the Appadurai vote like this:
Then I'm going to compose a long tweet thread about what it all means like this:
Alas, my friends, no.
I am going to eat dinner now and pick this up tomorrow.

Spoke to @AnjaliApp this morning. She says the organizing she did in her campaign caught the party off guard, outworked the @Dave_Eby campaign, and now the party is "building towards a predetermined conclusion" by DQing her so Eby can win.
@AnjaliApp @Dave_Eby "I think that what happened here is that I entered the race, wasn't considered a threat, went on to sign up thousands of new members to the party and at a certain point, it became clear that the number of memberships that I had brought into the party exceeded that of my opponent.
"Until that point, this race was welcomed by everyone involved. But as soon as there was leverage of a potential win, I believe that the pieces were put in place to disqualify me from the race."

The report by Elizabeth Cull that recommends the DQ of @AnjaliApp draws a direct linkage to a plan by the Dogwood campaign and Avi Lewis raising money and memberships. Dogwood used direct paid resources and "it is clear Dogwood solicited fraudulent memberships."
@AnjaliApp A lot of blame pinned directly at @avilewis and Kai Nagata in this report.
@AnjaliApp @avilewis The work of Dogwood, using paid resources, to sign up fraudulent members compromised the NDP's leadership race and member list, Cull concludes.

NDP leadership candidate @Dave_Eby has dropped his housing platform.
It’s huge, and represents one of the most sweeping shifts in BC housing policy I’ve seen.
Among the highlights...
@Dave_Eby - A new anti-flipping tax on the resale of residential property within 2 years (with exemptions for death, divorce and other things)
Allowing single family homes across BC's "urban areas" to be redeveloped w/ higher density buildings of up to three units, as long as they meet existing setback and height requirements. Huge bigfoot by province to local munis to get around rezonings and red tape, looks like.

Outgoing Speaker Darryl Plecas has produced a “Speaker’s Forum” report w/ recommendations for the #bcleg. It contains… many reforms that target the media, which, I should point out, the Speaker has no authority over. But.
I will summarize them in this thread.
"Encourage the Legislative Press Gallery and other media to present news to the public more like an accessible briefing note on relevance and less like a story about villains and heroes.”
"Have an independent body provide an annual report card of the media’s coverage of the Legislative Assembly."
