My election night snacks include water, two flavors of Red Bull, beef jerky, chips, almonds, chocolate and a sammich.
Spotted at @michelsforgov’s election night party: Timothy Ramthun, who ran in the GOP gov primary on a push to overturn the 2020 election
Supporters at @michelsforgov’s election night party are watching results on the @nytimes site.
With 50% reporting, Evers is currently leading as results come in.
With a little more than 54% reporting in Wisconsin:
Tony Evers is leading Tim Michels by about 71,000 votes in the #WIGOV race.
Mandela Barnes is leading Ron Johnson by about 5,800 votes in the #WISEN race.
At the @michelsforgov party, “Don’t Stop Believin’” is playing. Michels has tightened the margin a bit and Evers is currently leading by 3.2 points with about 65% of the vote counted.
Now with 69% of the state reporting, Evers leads Michels by about 53,000 votes — or 2.8 points.
The Senate race remains tight, with Johnson up about 31,000 votes over Barnes — but at 1.6 points, that's outside of the threshold for a recount.
The crowd at the @michelsforgov party is cheering now as the @nytimes results show Evers' lead shrink, now 49.9% to Michels' 49.1%. Across the room a group is chanting "USA! USA!"
With 83% of votes counted, Evers is up about 22,000 votes over Michels in #WIGOV.
In #WISEN, Johnson is up over Barnes by about 70,000 votes.
Apropos of nothing, Wisconsin law allows a candidate to request a recount only if they come within 1% of the winner's vote total. The candidate must pay for the recount if the margin is above 0.25%.
With 90% of votes counted, Evers is up 3 percentage points.
At the @michelsforgov party, supporters have made their way toward the stage.
"Don't Stop Believin'" is playing.
Tim Michels is addressing the crowd at his election night party, thanking them for their hard work: "I just called Gov. Evers and conceded. I wish the Evers family well."
"I love this state with all my heart."

.@SenRonJohnson is up at the @wisgop convention, taking the stage to chants of "six more years."
.@SenRonJohnson says he first ran for office because he "was panicked for our nation."
"Now I’ve been serving for 11 years. I’ve seen the change, and I hate to admit it, I’m more panicked."
.@SenRonJohnson is sharing stories about some recent confrontations, including getting booed at Juneteenth in Milwaukee. "Don’t worry about me. I’ve got a very thick skin. I sold plastic for 30 years; I’m very used to rejection."
"My purpose here isn't trying to make headlines; my purpose is to convey to the American public information and truths that I believe are important."
.@SenRonJohnson on whether he'll run again for #WISEN in 2022: "I don't feel any pressure to make (a decision) anytime soon."
.@SenRonJohnson on his promise in 2016 that he wouldn't run for a third term: "When I made that pledge, I meant that pledge." But he says he didn't realize at the time that Democrats would take majorities in Congress.
According to Lafayette County Board member Kriss Marion, a resolution has been introduced that, among other things, says media that print info from a press release about a water quality study — but not the WHOLE press release — "will be prosecuted."
@Kriss4Wisconsin There's obviously a lot going on here but I'm so hung up on any local government official thinking they can "prosecute" media for not printing an entire press release
Good morning! It's a busy day in Wisconsin's beautiful state Capitol. So many things happening. For starters, @GovWalker will light this Christmas tree at noon. But wait! There's more!
Last night, the Legislature's Joint Finance Committee voted to approve bills that would narrow Wisconsin's early voting window and strip away some powers from the executive branch and attorney general. Here's @katelynferral's story on the committee vote: madison.com/ct/news/local/…
.@repmarkpocan says if @SpeakerVos “does get too clever … I’ll come back from D.C and do what I have to.”
Vos and WI Republicans have talked about limiting some executive powers before @Tony4WI takes office. Pocan and Vos are in opposite parties, but are friends.
.@repmarkpocan names priorities for House Democrats:
🔸Access to health care/prescription drug pricing
🔸Minimum wage
🔸Infrastructure
🔸Election/campaign finance/ethics reform
.@repmarkpocan says @NancyPelosi committed to give more committee representation to Progressive Caucus. “I am waiting to have a personal conversation with her before I announce any decision … I would say the odds are that Nancy Pelosi is the next Speaker at this point.”
In a few minutes, the WI Legislature's Joint Finance Committee will hear testimony on a bill that would offer $100 million in tax incentives to Kimberly-Clark in exchange for the company keeping its Cold Spring plant open. @ScottWalker proposed this Foxconn-inspired deal in Feb.
The state Assembly voted 56-37 to approve the Kimberly-Clark bill in February, but the Senate never took it up. madison.com/ct/news/local/…
