Several thoughts on election so far: 1. Ron Desantis had a monster night. He won Florida by more than any Republican has in modern history. He won Hispanics, women, independents, suburban voters. All of them. 2. Joe Biden, if he doesn’t die, will be the 2024 Democrat nominee.
3. Republicans win the House meaning Biden’s agenda is done for next two years. 4. Fetterman’s win is the only shocking result to me so far. PA chose a man who can’t do the job and can barely speak. Truly embarrassing result.
5. Laxalt has a good shot to win Nevada. If so, Senate control will come down to the Georgia runoff next month as neither party got 50%. Again. 6. Incumbents won big. Almost none lost for either party. Very much a status quo election outside of red tsunami in Florida.
7. Betting markets overvalued Republican candidates. I trusted them more than polls, but both weren’t very reliable. 8. The 2024 race begins now and, as I’ve been saying, I expect the Republican race to come down to Trump or Desantis. Buckle up. It’s gonna be a wild battle.
Final take: Joe Biden is the worst president of our lives based on all measurable data — inflation/economy, crime, the border — but outside of a red tsunami in Florida, there were very limited consequences for Dems being wrong on everything.
This suggests we remain in a trench warfare era of politics. Neither side moves much & objective facts don’t matter much because there aren’t many persuadable voters. It’s just a 50-50 country. At some point we break out of the trenches & get a landslide. But not yet. On to 2024.

Nike has ended its relationship with Kyrie Irving over “hate speech” but continues its partnership with the Chinese government, which is currently committing actual genocide against Muslims.
Wide open billion dollar market out there for a new shoe company that just says, “I don’t give a fuck what your opinions are on anything, but our shoes are badass.” Sell them direct online. Market them as the uncancelable shoe. Hell, I may have to do it.
The Air First Amendments. Free speech is the new counterculture.

The Brooklyn Nets are suspending @KyrieIrving for his opinions while allowing @joetsai1999, who defends actual Muslim genocide in China, to own the team. Please explain, Adam Silver. Seems like the player is being held to a far higher standard than the owner.
These are the kinds of questions real sports media would be asking if they weren’t all NBA lapdogs. And they are questions other NBA players should have too, whether they agree with Kyrie on this or not. Why can an owner defend Chinese genocide with zero consequences?
This is also the clear problem with defining what is and is not acceptable speech in the NBA. What @joetsai1999 has defended — actual genocide of Muslim minorities in China that is currently taking place — is far worse than what Kyrie has done. Yet zero consequences.

Within three hours of the polls closing on Tuesday we will likely know who won every election in Florida. That’s because 2000 was a disaster for Florida & they fixed their elections. Honest question: why can’t every state enact the same policies for voting Florida presently has?
The number one way to instill doubt in the outcome of an election is to count votes for days or weeks after Election Day. So why can’t every state have the same policies and procedures as Florida does now? We should know every state result three hours after their polls close.
I don’t understand how in any way this is remotely controversial. Our election totals have to be rapidly processed and released on election night itself. All of them in every state. Just copy what Florida did. They were a disaster, now they’re a model. Make it nationwide.

No, I didn’t. I don’t agree with suspensions for words. Period. I’ve been consistent on this since I started in media. Ridicule and debate the ideas of people you disagree with, but cancel culture & identity politics are the twin evils of American society today.
I understand & respect the argument of we have to cancel people to make up for others getting canceled to show them the consequences of cancel culture, but that’s embracing the concept of cancel culture itself. Which I reject. If you don’t like something don’t watch or listen.
Why should I get to decide what other grown adults like or consume? So long as it’s not illegal, watch, listen and read what you like and I’ll do the same.

Covid didn’t cause America’s schools to shut down. Your union and Democrat leadership did. Much of Europe remained open and their kids were able to keep attending schools in person. You failed kids when they needed you most & you should resign.
It’s important to note what’s going on here. Democrats & their teacher’s union allies have shifted from it wasn’t safe to have schools open for years to now arguing covid caused all learning loss. That’s a lie. Their anti-science school shutdown caused this loss.
All the parents like me — and many of you — who spent years arguing all schools should be open & the threat to kids was minimal were demonized as wanting kids to die. We told you exactly what would happen if schools stayed closed & now we are all being proven correct.

Todd Bowles didn’t get the woke memo on NFL racism. Listen to the questions he gets from left wing reporters and his responses.
What’s fascinating about this answer to me is this is how anyone raised in the 1980’s, 1990’s or early 2000’s would answer these questions. We were all raised, especially in sports, with idea that we all had more in common, regardless of race, than we did different.
But then woke culture and victim ideology took over — which is the direct opposite of sports culture — and now Bowles will get attacked by the tiny minority of blue checks who don’t remotely represent sports culture & many will get notice to spout their talking points or else.
