The Supreme Court’s decision in West Virginia v. EPA lets polluters turn back the clock on fifty years of reduced pollution and improved air quality all across the country. The result of this dangerous decision is an EPA that is undermined in its ability to protect the public.

We cannot sit by as a captured, illegitimate, and far-right Supreme Court majority eviscerates the authorities that the government has had for decades to address greenhouse gas pollution from fossil fuels and prevent climate chaos.

Congress must not only support the EPA’s longstanding, life-saving efforts to protect the climate and public health in the face of this decision, but Congress must also do its job and pass meaningful climate and clean energy funding to protect our communities and our future.

I’ve introduced an amendment to the NDAA to redirect just 1% of our military budget toward global climate action and resilience for developing countries.

We should not accept the logic that says we can afford to build a $100 billion dollar ICBM that will never be used, but we cannot possibly afford paid family leave that Americans desperately need. My amendment will halt the Money Pit Missile program.

Our best weapon against variants is still vaccines. While we must take every measure to protect ourselves at home, to crush the pandemic we also have to get the global population vaccinated. We can and must do both. Here’s how we should approach that challenge. THREAD:

We have to do everything we can to increase international vaccine production. That includes waiving IP rights and securing technology transfer to enable countries to manufacture vaccines locally and address inequity among the world’s poorest nations. 2/5

Streamline supply chains so those vaccines can actually get distributed. We need the infrastructure to get shots in arms to save lives now and to prevent further variants. 3/5

Today is a day of remembrance for sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, and neighbors.

We remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives in New York City, Arlington, and Shanksville. We also mourn and remember the nearly 7,000 United States service members, and hundreds of thousands of civilians, who lost their lives in Afghanistan and Iraq since 9/11.

This year, as we recover from a pandemic that has taken hundreds of thousands of lives across our country, we have the opportunity to again reflect on how our nation responds to shared tragedy.

Doris Bunte was a fearless pioneer in the Massachusetts State House who never wavered in her commitment to the principles she believed in – justice, integrity, access to opportunity. When we served together in the State House, she was counsel, inspiration, and friend.

She taught me life-long lessons about the dignity of a safe home, the power of womanhood, and the rights of every person to lift themselves up and make a better world.

All of us in Massachusetts owe this history-maker and trailblazer endless gratitude.

The coronavirus phase 3 stimulus plan must put American families and workers first. But the plan released by Republicans prioritizes the interests of corporations and shareholders. Here are my priorities as I fight for a package that won’t sell out working people. THREAD:

First and foremost, ordinary Americans need direct, immediate, financial assistance. That means far more than the $600 proposed for low-income people. And we need paid sick leave, a moratorium on mortgage payments and evictions, and relief for renters.

We must vastly expand paid sick leave to cover ALL workers. That includes our gig economy workers who are some of our most important workers and also some of our most vulnerable.
