🧵Hey there #DragonAge Community. There's been a lot of talk about moving or not moving from people here, and I wanted to give some advice from a fandom old, who's watched the collapse of SEVERAL social medias over the years.

What's happening here is a little different than the tumblr exodus/migration. There is a REAL possibility that you could try to sign on to twitter tomorrow, and it just won't be here because El*n didn't pay the bills. We have no idea how much time we have left.

With that in mind, here are a few things you should do ASAP, whether you're moving somewhere else or not.

1. Decide if you're ready to jump ship and never plan on coming back. If so, DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT. Don't just leave it here and open. It could be a security risk.

2. If you're not ready to go, OR you are and are ready to delete, decide if you want to keep anything you've tweeted. If so, download an archive of your data.

This archive is a full html archive, but not great for photos (they don't expand).

I can guarantee you there are lots of nerds working on lots of things to make archives complete, importable to other platforms, etc.

Reach out to tech inclined friends to see if they can help with your archive.

If nothing else, you will have a safe copy of your memories here, if the site ceases to exist.

3. BOOKMARK people's carrds, websites, and ko-fis from their profiles. Make sure to do this for artists you want commissions, friends you don't want to lose, etc.

IDK about you, but I've gotten bad about keeping bookmarks.

If you don't want to lock bookmarks to a browser for whatever reason, I highly recommend raindrop.io.

4. Have a backup account. Even if aren't ready to go yet. Even if you don't WANT to move. Have an account somewhere on some platform. Start following friends and even strangers in the DA fandom there. Have a community to jump ship to.

5. DON'T PANIC. These sorts of things fracture communities, make it difficult for people to find one another, change the shape of fandom, but fandom will always persist.

The DA fandom has an advantage here because there's so many platforms where we're still active.
