@DrSarahClarke

What don't you get?

Doctors are desperate to get off the treadmill of training especially when it's less training and more service provision.

Locum work provides simultaneously more stability and flexibility financially and geographically. That's just mad.
Contract work is so poorly paid and valued it is miserable.

Doctors see training like a breath holding exercise. Force yourself through the doors at work, cross your fingers and hope there's no disaster today, then exhale when you get home.

Have you never heard of CCT and flee?
Do you not feel the moral injury that we do as we know patients are unable to get the best care in the best time?

Do you not feel ashamed of the situation we are in?

Do you not feel scared of how your family would be treated?
You dance around finances and complain about locum costs and medical school placements but you ignore the devaluation and retention of substantive staff.

The single biggest issue facing doctors today is their pay and all of the collateral effects associated with that.
Low pay.
Low retention.
Low staffing.
Low morale.
Low motivation.
Low mood.
Low energy.
Low quality of care.
We see behind the curtain of the NHS and we can't tolerate it anymore.

We are doctors and we are patients too.

There will come a day where my own family require emergency treatment, and I am so scared.
We've had 26% pay cut in 15 years.
We've had A&E waiting times go up.
We've got record outpatient waiting lists.
We have a staffing crisis born from devaluation.
I'm sick and tired of people putting their head in the sand and not addressing the obvious issues at hand.

Doctors will always be critical to delivering high quality health care and if you don't value them, they will leave.

It's simple supply and demand.
If we want a future of high quality healthcare then we need to protect the pay of junior doctors, not just of this generation but also the ones to come.

We must not pull up the ladder of fortune but lend a helping hand to the doctors of the future.
The government are signalling that they won't negotiate on pay restoration. This will mean every year we lose pay, it is gone forever.

In 2016, @George_Osborne said he'd fix the roof whilst the sun was shining. Well our roof didn't get fixed did it!
On the 9th January 2023, Junior Doctors will have an opportunity to stand up for themselves and be balloted for Industrial Action.

We will follow our nursing colleagues in striking and defend our pay. We will defend our profession. We will defend our patients.
