WHY are AB schoolboards not announcing #mask #mandates? Need is clear (75% of @EPSBNews schls in outbreak rn, PICUs overflowing). Effectiveness of mandates is clear (below). CM v Alberta shows min of ed does not have power to prohibit mandates. Window of opportunity is RIGHT NOW.
Is there some obvious & common-sense operational reason why indoor mask mandate in schls until wave subsides wd make situation worse for kids? If so, I can't think of it (beyond not wanting to displease insect overlords - which is a non-reason).
And it's not like masking to prevent infection is some kind of fringe whacko idea: nature.com/articles/s4158…
